Referee
Crucial Decisions (refer to penalty kicks, sending-off situations etc.) Minute and Description of the Scene / Assessment of the referees decision Penalty awarded to New Zealand. Perica (CRO) makes a clumsy challenge from behind to Fenton (NZL) near the goal line but a little to the right. Ricci is just right 83 outside the penalty area and immediately points to the penalty spot. Excellent decision.

Basic Observations (refer to the general application of the LotG, highlight the referees tactical approach, personality, match control, management of the teams and players, teamwork etc.). Please deploy short but precise and detailed sentences! Positive Points Foul detection. Good foul detection and especially no foul detection which 1. presented a small amount of fouls (22). Advantage law. He applied the advantage rule very good letting the game flow as 2. much as possible and even waiting longer than the rule itself. Decision making. His reaction at the penalty situation revealed great awareness 3. and it showed that he was ready to take any difficult decision. Needed. Points for Improvement Positioning and movement in the pitch. More backwards movement is needed 1. and more diagonal. He shouldnt follow the ball because that way he is putting himself too close to play. More consistency needed especially in cases of late challenges and when the 2. player has no intention to play the ball. He didnt punish every situation as needed. Whistle language. He uses a weird kind of whistle and he does the same sound 3. almost at every foul. He should change his whistle and start giving a different tone to every infringement.

Further observations (peculiarities of the referee revealing his character) One peculiarity is his whistle. His whistle is a weird kind and he doesnt give a different tone to every foul. He should be able to use it better in more serious situations.
