    DearMr.MarkKarpeles, Weareyourdepositors.Wearewritingyouthisletterwiththeintentofproposinga solutionthatworksineveryonesinterest,includingyourselfandtheentireBitcoinCommunity.If weworktogetherwecansaveMt.GoxandprovidetheBitcoinCommunitywithwhatittruly needs:anexchangethathaseveryonestrust.Thiscanbeaccomplishedthroughavoluntary reorganizationofMt.Goxresultinginyourdepositors(andyourself)beinggrantedownershipina newcommunityownedexchange.WebelievetheBitcoinCommunitywillsupportsuchan exchangebecausetheownershipwillbealignedwiththeidealstheCommunitysupports. TheideasbehindBitcoinarebiggerthanourpersonalstakeandthenumbersinour accounts.Theseideasarebiggerthanthe750,000Bitcoinsthatmayormaynothavebeen stolenfromMt.GoxandarebiggerthanMt.Goxitself.TheworldiswatchingBitcoinrightnow andwaitingtoseehowwehandlethis.Therearethosewhowouldlovetoseeuspanicand devolveintoanangrymob,strickenwithpersonalgreedandouttoclaimeverylastcoin.Butwe arebetterthanthat.Weknowyouareaswellandthatyouarewillingtodowhatisnecessaryto makeuswhole.Atpresent,thefirststepistodiscussthevoluntaryreorganizationofMt.

    Gox andtakingusonasshareholders.WeareputtingtheideaofBitcoinaheadofourimmediate righttoownspendableBitcoinsbecausewebelieveintheideasbehindBitcoin,donotwantto harmtheembodimentofthoseideas,andbelievethatcooperationrepresentsthebestmethod forrecoupingourlossesandbuildingatrustworthyexchangethatwillmaketheCommunity strongerthanitwasbefore.Weknowyouagree. WehavealongtermvisionofBitcoinandwebelieveyoudoaswell.Weareopento manysuggestionsastohowtoresolvethis,butatthispointwebelievethefollowingpoints embodyourbestoptions:(1)depositorsshouldbeofferedastakeinthenewcompanyonapro ratabasisbasedontheirholdingsinMt.Gox(wecancomeupwithaformulaforvaluingBitcoin denominatedholdingslater)(2)thosewhowishtoleaveshouldbeofferedahaircut.Thereare manydetailstobeworkedout,butthisistheessenceoftheplan.Itisaplanthatwillbenefit yourdepositors,benefityourself,benefitBitcoinandbenefitothervirtualcurrencies.Most importantly,itwillshowtheworldwecanregulateourselvesinthefaceofgreatadversity.Our abilitytoselfgoverninthistimeofcrisiswillserveasamodelforothergovernmentsand organizationstheworldover. Wewelcomeanopendiscussionaboutthepossibilitiesforresolvingthisinamanner thatbenefitstheBitcoinCommunityandvirtualcurrencymovementasawhole,andbalances thoseinterestswithourrighttocompensationwhilerecognizingthatyouarehuman.Please restoreourfaithinyourselfandinMt.Goxbyacceptingthisinvitationtodiscussoursituation.
