COLOUR LOSS

Product: BVM-9044D Serial No: 2005701 and higher 21 Aug 1998

1 DESCRIPTION
After many hours of use, the picture may become monochrome. This is caused by a change in the impedance
of trimmer capacitors CV101 and CV102 on the B board which in turn causes the crystal oscillator for the
chroma decoder to stop. To correct this condition perform the following modification.

Note: In some cases, colour returns when the monitor is subjected to vibration or physical shock. However, it
is still recommended that the modification described in this Engineering Bulletin is performed.

2 MODIFICATION PROCEDURE
1. Replace CV101 on the B board.
2. Replace CV102 on the B board.
3. Solder a 5pF in parallel with CV101.
4. Solder a 5pF in parallel with CV102.

3 ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE
Perform the VXO ADJUSTMENT (CV101, CV102) as described in Section 4-7 B BOARD ADJUSTMENTS in
the Operation and Maintenance Manual.
