LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON

“For Father’s Day this year we have decided to get the boys involved. My eldest, Lonwabo, who is five, loves helping me in the kitchen, and I enjoy teaching him, so we have chosen things that are easy for him – and my husband Brian – to help prepare. I find this style of cooking works well for family get-togethers or any kind of casual entertaining with friends.

“We decided on a menu of finger food, including smoky pulled pork sliders that I do on the braai – you don’t have to own a fancy smoker to make these. If I have time, I make the pork the night before and finish it off in the oven so that it gets nice and soft, but it’ll be just as good if you make it on the day.

“We’re also making boerewors bites, which are great for Lonwabo to get stuck into. We remove the meat from the casings and add an Asian twist with garlic, ginger, soya sauce and coriander and serve them with a sweet-spicy dipping sauce. This is one of my favourite
