ANDES ADVENTURE
Working as a photographer in the world of motorcycle racing means that I spend a lot of time travelling all over the world to shoot the action.
I dread to think how many times I have been around the world, but I am incredibly thankful that my job takes me to some beautiful and interesting places. In most cases, with a busy family life at home, I tend to leave for a trip as late as I can and head back home as soon as I can. Every now and then, however, I just have to stay on location a little longer to have a look around – especially when I’m at those faraway destinations not readily accessible from my home in Glasgow.
FORMING A PLAN
When the WorldSBK organisers announced that there would be a race in Argentina in 2018, my imagination immediately took hold and I just knew I had to plan an extended trip. The San Juan region, home to El Villicum circuit where the race would take place, is located on the eastern edge of the Andes mountains in the north-west of Argentina, and bounded on the north and east by barren desert. It seemed perfect for an adventure, and what better way to have one than on a motorcycle.
After weeks of internet research and pouring over maps I chose to fly to Santiago in Chile, then drive through the Andes to Argentina. Having to carry all my camera equipment for the race
