Due to the quantity of volumes in each shot on we had to composite every shot using Nuke’s Deep feature. With Deep, renders don’t need to have hold-out mattes because these will be created in the compositing phase. Deep data is, however, extremely large and cumbersome. My first rule when using Deep for compositing is, therefore, to use Deep tools quickly and exit as soon as possible.
