Having spent 25 years as a professional sailor immersed in Olympic, America’s Cup and Volvo Ocean races, it might seem strange that going cruising is now my holiday of choice. Perhaps it is because I am approaching 50, or more likely it is because I can think of no better way to spend quality time with my wife and two daughters, 16 and 18. We have been fortunate enough to enjoy bareboat charters in Majorca, the British Virgin Islands and Croatia, and in mid-July we returned to the Ionian Sea, choosing to sail out of Lefkas on Greece’s western coast with Sunsail.
