I might edit a guitar mag and have reviewed a lot of very nice acoustic guitars over the years, but that doesn’t mean I could ever afford many of them. It’s always nagged at me – investing in the right acoustic guitar is something that could be a life-long experience. One that ages with me! I’ve owned a Taylor GS Mini for years, and I’ve even gigged with it, but that’s not exactly a typical acoustic for the company. Though neither is this Grand Pacific. When I attended the launch of the three models that represented this new design last year it was very clear it was a departure for Taylor; its master builder Andy Powers was using his V-Class bracing to create a more vintage voice with some unique character. And it turns out that would affect me more than I predicted…
