A number of years ago, in 2012, to be precise, The South African Veterinary Council amended Rule 10 of the Veterinary and Para-Veterinary Professions Act, Act 19 of 1982.

WRSA objected vehemently and initiated legal steps, which cost a significant amount.

Unfortunately, a further amendment to the rules to accommodate the (Compulsory Community Service) CCS vets meant that after all the money spent and all the effort put in, especially by Dr Gert Dry, WRSA would have to start again from scratch. It was then decided to stop the legal action.

These changes and others have left a lot of questions in the minds of vets and farmers as to what is legal and what is not, and what may or may not be done.
