Mixed ability rugby benefits all

Thank you for your excellent article on mixed ability rugby (June issue). After playing rugby since school days into adulthood and coaching youth rugby for five years, I had fallen out of love with rugby as a participation sport.

Then three years ago I was asked by the Bath Rugby Foundation to help with a mixed ability team that they were setting up. In that first year it was a mixture of male and female players playing touch rugby.
