Gather your supplies

• Weaving loom 45.5 x 61cm

• Cotton string

• Yarn needle

• 4 ply yarn in Light Pink (Yarn A) and White (Yarn B)

• Weaving comb

• Erasable fabric marker

• Adjustable punch needle

• Chunky-weight yarns in Blue (Yarn C), Green (Yarn D), Ochre (Yarn E), Coral (Yarn F), White (Yarn G) and Peach (Yarn H)

• Wooden stick

• Scissors

Here’s how

STEP 1 Warp the loom using the cotton string. Tie one end of the string to one of the notches at the top left-hand side of the loom, then bring the thread down and around the opposite notch at the bottom, then back up and around the next notch at the top. Continue hooking the thread around each notch until the warp threads are 27cm wide. Tie off the string around the last notch to secure it.

STEP 2 Next, add a row of twining to the top of the warped area. Cut a 1m length of cotton string and fold it in half. Loop the string around the far right warp thread, roughly 5cm down from the top of the loom, then pull the ends through the loop and to the left to create a knot. Bring one length of the string (Thread 1) under the next warp thread in, and the other (Thread 2) over the same warp thread. Twist the threads, then take Thread 1 over the next warp thread, and Thread 2 under. Twist the threads again, and repeat across the warp, tying off the threads at the opposite side.
