In the UK, it’s thought that over 10 million people have arthritis, according to the NHS website. Arthritis is an umbrella term used to describe symptoms of pain, swelling and stiffness in one or multiple joints.
‘There are around 200 different types of joint conditions,’ reveals Professor Philip Conaghan, University of Leeds and Versus Arthritis spokesperson. ‘We divide them into the two groups below.’
