Obituaries

TODD ABELL, a shortstop and third baseman who played in the minor leagues in 1989, died June 3. He was 52.

CARL ANGELO, a lefthander who pitched in the minor leagues in 1954, died July 1 in Battle Creek, Mich. He was 88.

PETER ARNITZ, a righthander who pitched in the minor leagues in 1958, died June 1. He was 82.

CLYDE BALDWIN, who pitched in the minor leagues from 1950-54 and served as a player/manager for the Ardmore Indians of the Sooner State League in 1952, died May 25 in Richardson, Texas. He was 91.

DAVID BORGES, a righthander who pitched in the minor leagues in 1956, died June 18. He was 83.

OSCAR BROWN, an outfielder who played in the major leagues for the Braves from 1969-73, died June 3 in Carson, Calif. He was 74.

Brown hit .244/.284/.339 in 337 career plate appearances to go along with four home runs and 28 RBIs. Brown is the brother of former major league outfielder Ollie Brown and NFL Hall of Fame defensive back Willie Brown.
