The U.S. Mint has released a bronze medal commemorating the U.S.S. Indianapolis and the survivors of its sinking on July 30, 1945.
Commissioned in November 1932, the (CA-35) was a Portland-class heavy cruiser that became the flagship of the 5th fleet with extensive combat duty in the South Pacific.
