“My first memory of a is Tai On Café in Yau Ma Tei, where I would go as a child,” says illustrator Wai Wai. Ever since, she has loved these Hong Kong institutions, which differ from by specialising in iced drinks: literally translates as “ice chamber”. “I always order milk tea and iced coconut milk with red beans,” says Wai Wai. “It’s a unique taste of Hong Kong. If I leave here one day, I would miss and very much.”
