As I wheeled my suitcase up the path, I couldn’t help but gasp.

‘Ooo... check out our swanky hotel!’ I said to my nan, Catherine, 57, as the grand doors of the reception swung open to welcome us in.

With the plane ride behind us, we could finally enjoy our escape from reality and get a much-needed tan.

I’d been beyond excited to go to Icmelar, Turkey.

I loved the country and had been going back and forth for years, as my auntie Angela, 70, lived over there during her retirement.

I had booked an all-inclusive holiday with my nan and we hoped to relax by the pool, read a few books and soak up some rays.

It had been a long time coming after a stressful year.

During which I had moved away from my home – Port Talbot, Wales, to Worcester, West Midlands.
