Alyson and Phil Irwin had been so excited about this baby – a sibling for their firstborn, Kennedy (3). But the physician’s words were devastating, Alyson recalls.

“He said, ‘You’re pregnant with conjoined twins. I’m really, really, sorry, but you’re going to have to decide what you’re going to do.’ It’s just not something you would expect at all.

“It was the worst news you could receive, you know? Especially because the statistics aren’t good.”
