When Anna van der Breggen won the road race at the World Championships in Imola, two days after winning the individual time trial title, she became only the second rider ever, male or female, to win both road rainbow jerseys in the same year, matching Jeannie Longo’s achievement from 1995. While Van der Breggen had won the Worlds road race before, having taken her first rainbow jersey in 2018, her victory in the time trial was a first and filled one of the few gaps remaining on the Dutchwoman’s palmarès.

Van der Breggen turned professional in 2012, and in the nine years since, she has amassed 42 victories. While that leaves her fifth on the list of most victories among active riders, it’s the spread of her wins which is most impressive.
