      Sierra McIntyre is determined to find her true passion in life. After all, she comes from a family of overachievers. Right now, she's working for a tabloid and on the case of the disappearance of some retired ghost hunters. In her quest for answers, she gets an interview with the new head of the Ghost Hunters/ John Fontana is aware of Sierra's reporting and is also wondering about the missing ghost hunters and about a new drug that's commonly used by ghost hunters.Fontana proposes a marriage of convenience to give them an excuse to work together even though he is secretly going for the more permanent and socially acceptable Covenant Marriage. Sierra has just dumped a fiancé and isn't looking for marriage at all. But she agrees to Fontana's proposal.Their first night in Fontana's home doesn't end as either of them expect. A group of men try to break in and set the house on fire. There is an escape in the basement to the catacombs built by the aliens who are long gone. But only trained and prepared ghost hunters with tuned amber would ever take that escape route. Add in Sierra's claustrophobia and more bad guys in the catacombs and you don't have anyone's idea of a proper honeymoon. When Fontana almost burns himself out eluding the bad guys, Sierra is left alone with him in a vast underground jungle. Well, she's alone except for her dustbunny Elvis and his white, rhinestone-studded cape. I loved Elvis with his unique fashion choices and his liking for peanut butter and banana sandwiches. I also liked that people at Sierra's office made him a flying machine from a flat box and helium balloons. The story is exciting as Fontana and Sierra figure out what happened to the missing ghost hunters and fall in love along the way. There lots of great dialog between the two main characters. And who doesn't love a cute, fluffy dustbunny?

      I really enjoy these books, this series. For me its more about the mystery or adventure going on rather than the romance which seems secondary to me in the books. I can’t wait for her to write more.

      A much more solid, tighter story than the last book, but same number of stars because I do just like them. As I mentioned before, her writing propels the characters through the story, and the characterizations of the dust bunnies are fun. Not sure how much popularity Elvis would have centuries after his death and on an alien planet, but still cute.

      I am really enjoying this series. The world that Krentz (writing as Castle) has created on the planet of Harmony is fun to visit again and again. This time the new Guild Boss of Crystal City is facing a nosy reporter (our heroine), a new drug that is getting to former hunters, and an unseen enemy who doesn't like the fact that he is the new Boss. New paranormal powers just add to the fun.

      I'm not normally a big fan of science fiction but this series just keeps me coming back.

      I stand back from this series and my brain starts picking holes in it, but as I read them I really do enjoy the read, Jayne Ann Krentz/Jayne Castle just writes in such a way as to keep my willing sense of disbelief going. I find the stories a huge amount of fun and really do enjoy them, though I do need a break between cause otherwise they start blurring into each other.Sierra McIntyre left her wealthy family to try to find a role for herself in her world. With her intuition she is finding a role for herself working for a tabloid newspaper. She gets a chance to interview the mysterious Hunter Guild boss John Fontana, trying to find out if he's behind the disappearances of retired, homeless hunters.The two of them find that actually they're very attracted and John proposes marriage, to help her investigate and get to the bottom of the rot that's within the Hunter Guild.As I write that, I'm shaking my head, yeah it's contrived, yeah the logic is lacking, but it was a fun read!

      Two Minute Review for “Dark Light” by Jayne CastleThis author knows her stuff. Harmony, the world this is set on is fascinating, ever changing and has a constant mystery around every corner. The heroes are strong, understanding, sexy guys and the women are strong, independent and have a nice moral compass. The reporter, Sierra McIntyre is trying to find some homeless hunters that disappeared, John Fontana the local Guild boss is trying to help her root out the truth. There is a sense of humor and fun that is wonderfully entertaining. The mystery is good and the sex is great too.

      On the planet Harmony, descendants of Earth settlers have returned to a 21st Century tech level with the aide of alien psi technology, based on amber. Sienna is a tabloid reporter investigating the local psychic Guild and its connection to a new drug and to the disappearences of street people. The new Guild head offers to join forces with her in a temporary marriage, making it easier for them to track down what's really going on. But things are not as they seem....I don't usually care for paranormal romances, because the fantastic elements are almost always unsatisfactory. But they are handled well here. Castle (aka Jayne Krentz, aka Amanda Quick) has a deft hand with psychic abilities and a reasonably well-thought-out otherworldly background. I will be looking for more in this series.

      Loved this. I need to go back and read the first three in the series. Castle is very good at making the characters come alive. I also very much enjoyed Dust Bunny Elvis.

      Reporter Sierra McIntyre is convinced that there's a connection between the Night Rider motorcycle gang that's dealing ghost juice, the disappearance of a number of burned out ex-ghost hunters, and the Crystal City Ghost Hunter Guild. When she beards new Guild Boss John Fontana in his office, sparks fly. With Elvis, the dust bunny King for comic relief, the pair may just have a shot at cleaning up the Crystal City guild - if, that is, they can keep their hands off one another for long enough.Not Castle's best. The Harmony books used to be some of my favorites, but these smack of the same old familiar formula. Boy meets girl, sparks fly, someone attacks, he's estranged from his family, she insists he fix the problem....yadda, yadda, yadda. Blah.

      I'm loving the recent upswing in paranormal romance novels, but I must tell you that one of my favorite series is the 'Curtain/Ghost Hunter' series by Jayne Castle AKA Jayne Ann Krentz AKA Amanda Quick. The first book was written a little over 10 years ago and I was hooked. So whenever I get a new release, I put down whatever I'm reading at the time and gobble the new down. I've reread every book in this series at least 4-5 times and I know "Dark Light", the newest release, will be no exception.Sierra is a tabloid reporter, now. She's also been hotel concierge, worked in an art gallery, a various other assorted short term jobs...in other words, she's still looking for her career path. Unlike all the others in her overachiever family. So far as a reporter, she's managed to piss off the local Guild. But hey, she did manage to score an interview with the new Guild Boss and ...Whoa, is he sexy! He makes her special senses sing! What's up with that?There's a rumor that Hunters 'know' when they meet their mate. From the minute Sierra walks into new Guld Boss John Fontana's office, he knows she's the one. Unfortunately, she's also managed to stir up some trouble that appears to be putting her in danger and she doesn't appear willing to share her sources. So Fontana comes up with a great plan--he'll marry her!I almost forgot about Elvis! I think he steals the show in this book. The fancy outfits with all the rhinestones are fabulous! And his special abilities...well, I don't want to give it away.Once again, the perfect blend of romance, mystery, humor, and action. I don't know how she does it, but I'm so glad she does. My only beef is that now I'll have to wait another year or so for my next 'fix'.If you miss the way Linda Howard used to write, if you like Krentz's 'Arcane Society' books, heck...if you like excellent romance, then you need to get off your duff and read these books. "Dark Light" is another one for my keeper shelf, just like all the rest in this series.
