About this audiobook

A Song of Love won her heart.
A Song of Darkness haunted her soul.
A Song in the Dance would seal her fate.

Seers had long foreseen an extraordinary destiny for Ellysetta Baristani. Already she had won the heart of the Fey King—the magnificent Rain, ever her ally, eternally her love. She had saved the offspring of the magical tairen and fought beside her legendary mate against the armies of Eld. But the most powerful—and dangerous—Verse of her Song had yet to be sung. As the final battle draws nigh and evil tightens its grip upon her soul—will Ellysetta secure the world for Light or plunge it into Darkness for all eternity? As she and Rain fight for each other, side by side, will they find a way to complete their truemate bond and defeat the evil High Mage of Eld before it's too late, or must they make the ultimate sacrifice to save their world?

A phenomenal ending to one of the best series I’ve ever read! Wilson has managed to write 5 amazing books which are really just part of one outstanding story. She wrapped everything up in this story as it related to Rain and Ellysetta, but left room to (hopefully) tell additional stories about one of the many other numerous characters. I feel like I’m living in her world when I read her stories.

This part of the series was filled with action and suspense. Unfortunately, since most of the book is devoted to the final battle, there wasn’t as much time for romance. However, all of the actions of the characters were based on undying love for others, and you could feel that emotion. There were also many moments between Rain and Ellysetta that were very touching. We also learned quite a bit about the Elves and the Dahl’reisen.

I truly enjoy this author’s writing style and love that she shares just the right amount of detail. It’s enough to make sure you understand what is going on, but never so much that you begin to get bored or want to skip a paragraph. I’m not sure how a book that is almost 400 pages couldn’t be long enough, but I wasn’t ready for it to end even though the epilogue left you feeling fulfilled. If you have already read the first 4 stories, you won’t be disappointed. This is everything that you have come to expect from this author. If you haven’t started this series yet, I really hope you’ll give it a try. I look forward to reading the entire series again!

Absolutely wonderful! Crown of Crystal Flame is the best yet of the 5 novels in the Tairen series. This culmination of the Tairen Soul series was an action packed, heart stopping, breathtaking ride. The story begins right where the the 4th one ended, we join Ellysetta and Rain as they wait for the Eld attack they know is coming and try to deal with King Dorian's distrust, the effects that their unsealed bond is having on Rain, and disorder amongst the allies. Ellie's courage is tested repeatedly as she is faced with challenges far greater than she expected and Rain is forced to rethink some of the oldest beliefs and customs of his people.

This story took so many unexpected twists and turns. The battle scenes themselves were described so vividly that I could almost hear the shouts and screams and roars of the Tairen. The fast moving plot, to me, never felt rushed, instead kept me constantly on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. As fascinating as the plot was, the characters in this series were what made these books so amazing. I had no ambivalent feelings about any, even the more minor characters. I either absolutely loathed them or or was concerned about what would happen to them. Either way, I was fully invested in their stories. And Wilson did not disappoint, making sure to tie up all loose ends by the end of this incredible novel.

This book, as well as the earlier 4 books in this series will appeal to many types of fantasy readers. There is heartrending and passionate romance, some happy and some tragic. There are epic battles, fairytale creatures of all kinds, mythical beings, magic both dark and light, and an enjoyable tale that's both dramatic and highly entertaining.

There are so many times, when, at the end of such an epic story, there are still minor plot lines that I'm left to wonder about. I didn't find that at all with Crown of Crystal Flame. Although I'm sad to see an end to one of my favorite series, this novel left me with a feeling of satisfaction.

I can't wait to read more of C.L. Wilson's wonderful work.
No doubt in my mind, this deserves a rating of 5

This entire series has been amazing but the finale left me gasping and shivery. The action never lets up and there are death, passion, tenderness, and tears as Ellie and Rain fight their way to the final confrontation with the Eld High Mage. The battle scenes are amazing, very well-written and visceral. The reader never knows where the next attack is coming from. Just when you think the good side has won, another group of enemies shows up to make your stomach clench again.Ellie is becoming more and more powerful, but at the same time, she's afraid it's going to turn her to the darkness. She has visions of becoming a Dark Queen, much like Galadriel when Frodo offers her the ring, one who will corrupt and destroy the world. Rain is falling into madness as the final bondmate link hasn't yet come to pass. But they find allies who are loyal and courageous despite the treacheries of the mages. This is such an amazing fantasy series. The worldbuilding is fantastic and detailed, immersive without overwhelming the reader or slowing down the plot. I do have a complaint with the covers, but don't let that turn you away from this amazing series. I have hopes that we haven't seen the last of this world yet.

I have never enjoyed war in stories until this book. Every word was a treat and lead to an adventure that should not be missed by anyone. This is the final chapter in the Tarin Soul series, and it is flawless and beautiful.

This book, like each of it's predecessors, is different than the others. There was a touch more romance in this novel than the last one but still the romance was overshadowed by the fantasy. I was happy that this book picked up considerably after the first couple of chapters and considerably from the previous book. After read this book the last felt more like a stepping stone than ever before.

I was so happy when the book finally reached the point where things started to go right. Everything kept happening to these characters, through the whole series, one thing after another. C.L. Wilson has no qualms about torturing her characters to the brink. I felt so bad for these characters reading the whole book and the whole series, I fell in love with these characters from the first book and I felt deeply every time they were hurt.

It's always a bitter sweet moment when a series ends. I am sad and happy at the same time. Sad to say goodbye to these characters and happy to find most of them ended up happy when I was done reading. I enjoyed this series immensely and will continue to watch out for work by Ms. Wilson.

Finally, the last of the Tairen Soul series. This was good, and I was glad to see some loose ends wrapped up, but there was way too much fighting and blood and guts in this one. The constant torture/healing cycle got a bit tiresome after awhile. There were also some questions left unanswered, at least to me, like what happened to Melliandra and the babies and Nicolene? I don't think another book is planned because all is well, but perhaps the opening is there, just in case. If you like high fantasy, I think you'll like this series.

Posted first on The Romance ReviewsIn this fifth and final book C. L. Wilson's Tairen Soul series, an "epic tale of magic, passion and destiny", she has not held anything back. It is exciting and passionate, full of danger and amazing magic, with passion that is both tender and yet scalding. It is heartfelt and bold and extremely beautiful, keeping you on a razor's edge, with baited breath awaiting the answer: Will light win over darkness? You will find that final answer in this exciting ending. In this final saga, Ellysetta Baristani finally understands the darkness that she carries, deep inside and hard to find, but there all the same. Having already won the love of Rain, the Fey King and having saved the tairen, she has been marked by the evil mage; he is close to owning her soul. As the final battle of Eld begins, will evil win or will Ellysetta overcome the darkness and embrace the light? Will evil finally be defeated and Ellysetta be set free, to live and love, free of the demons of darkness, that pursue her?I began this story at a disadvantage as I had not read any of the other books leading up to this final chapter. What I truly enjoyed about this was that while it took me a short time to decipher the characters and the background, once I got through the first chapter, I was enthralled. C. L. Wilson took this final story and weaved it around and about all the previous stories, making it one to stand on its own. While I will seek out the other books because the story is ingenious, it is not necessary in order to read and enjoy the final outcome, including the romance and interplay in THE CROWN OF CRYSTAL FLAME.The interaction between Ellysetta and Rain, her love and lover, is magnetic and hot. It is tender and heart whelming, making you yearn for the same type of relationship. There is honesty and trust, with an electrical charge that heats up the pages. With all the flames between them, the edges of the pages should be burnt. The story is also fun and full of excitement, as well as danger and death. It has all the drama of an epic fantasy, with both the beauty and the depravity of the times it is set in. If you have not read this book or any of this series by C.L Wilson, you are in for a surprise. It is fast paced and smooth, but adds that jangle to your nerves, holding you in suspense. You will not put it down once you get caught up with the characters and story, it will hold you till the very last page.

***Spoiler Warning*** This is book 5 in a 5 book series, therefore even the synopsis will have some spoilers if you haven't read the previous books.Pros: great wrap up for the series, satisfying battle scenes, down time between fight scenes allowed for continued character developmentCons: while Wilson was willing to kill off a few characters, there were too many last minute saves, which reduced overall tensionThe Eld have begun their attack on Celaria. King Dorian and his wife are more at odds than ever and Rain, banished from the Fading Lands, is nearing bond madness. This book starts directly after the events of Queen of Song and Souls. There is a brief recap of that book's conclusion, but you might want to skim it again before starting this book. With war imminent, there's less time for romance. Wilson manages to squeeze in a few love scenes, but they're not as detailed as the ones in previous books. Crown is more focused on battles and Wilson does a great job of narrating battlefields. In this book we learn more of the Elves and see some creepy creatures of evil that Vadim Maur has prepared for this war. There's a long denouement after the climax which clears up a lot of things. Rather than feeling overlong, it makes for a satisfying conclusion. While it seemed like she was willing to kill characters, too many named supporting characters are saved in the nick of time. Similarly, Rain and Ellysetta are almost captured and/or killed so often some of the tension was lost (as you know they'll be saved). Having said that, Wilson definitely puts her protagonists through the wringer. If you've enjoyed the series thus far, you'll find this a satisfying conclusion.
