About this audiobook
The bar Sophia Pearce is in doesn't look like much. The wine is bad and the decor worse. But when a sudden attack of curiosity leads her to sneak past security and into the back room, she discovers something unimaginable. The most lavish party she's ever laid eyes on, in the most unlikely of places.
But that's nothing compared to what comes next, to the man she meets back there. Sebastian Lock. Gorgeous, commanding, and radiating charm, he is exactly the sort of silver-tongued rake Sophia has sworn to avoid. Unfortunately, he doesn't care much for her promises.
Every instinct tells her to run, but the chemistry between them is as inescapable as gravity. Soon, he's opening her eyes to a whole new world of pleasures, pleasures she never thought she'd enjoy.
There's just one problem. Sebastian is more than he seems. Between the famous company he keeps and the almost paranoid secrecy of his employers, he's a puzzle Sophia can't quite solve, and his insistence on keeping things casual forces her to confront the demons of her past.
Can she learn to trust again? Or will Sebastian's privacy tear them apart?

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5it had a bad ending. I hope there is a book 2
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Easy to get through, good writing. Very descriptive. I enjoyed the odd Australian touch and it felt very naturally written. I liked the main character but found her partner difficult to relate to and all a bit wooden and unrealistic. I stuck with it and will continue the series

Maya will be on my blog on April 9th, 2013 with an excerpt, and she'll be giving away a GC and 2 e-copies of Locked.
Maya Cross had this to say about her writing: "I believe in writing familiar narratives told with a twist, so most of my stories will feel comfortable, but hopefully a little unique." I think that is an accurate assessment after having read LOCKED. The trope is tried and true and definitely familiar. You either enjoy this type of story or you don't. While I'm beginning to get turned off by trilogies that could easily be written as one complete and cohesive story, this story managed to hold my attention, and I found it more than enjoyable.
Sophia Pearce isn't a naive girl fresh out of college, she's a lawyer with ambition and spunk. A night out on the town with her girlfriends leads to a lot of drinking, and on a dare, she manages to sneak into what appears to be an exclusive event for some very wealthy patrons where she captures the attention of Sebastian Lock. Before anyone has time to figure out that she's a party crasher, she tries to hightail it out of there, but gets lost and ends up in Sebastian's office. Her snooping is interrupted when Sebastian shows up and he's not alone. Huddled in his closet, she witnesses him punishing his secretary for her previous interruption. Sophia is shocked to discover that she's aroused by what she's seen. If she thought she could put her drunken adventure behind her and forget all about it, Sebastian is about to show her how wrong she is.
This was a nice change from the usual naive, inexperienced heroines who manage to get tangled up by a rich CEO hero with dominant tendencies. Sophia knows about kink and BDSM, she's just never had the opportunity to try it.
“You want this Sophia, you want to do more than just watch, and I’m going to be the one that shows you.”
When she crosses paths with Sebastian, she's physically attracted to him, and it's apparent that he wants her too. Sophia knows what she wants, and a no-strings attached sexual relationship sounds perfect. But where she wants exclusivity, Sebastian is not a fan of it. Someone will have to give if there's going to be any spanking and tumbling. Sebastian is not only a mystery to her, but also to the reader. He has secrets, and he's keeping them close to his vest. Their chemistry doesn't really come to fruition until their first dinner date where he proves he is capable of having a proper conversation with her. Apparently that was the right card to play because before dessert, he's already making her an offer she can't and doesn't want to refuse.
Instantly he signalled [sic] the waitress. “I can’t wait until after dinner. I have to be inside you now.”
The sex ... wow! Ms Cross sure can write some scorching scenes. I liked that their first intimate encounter wasn't the usual series of events I've read over and over again; it was just a little different. Apparently our hero is not only good-looking, he's also got a tattoo, and he's extremely well endowed.
The story moves at a smooth pace, and like I said earlier, I liked the mysterious hero. There is some significance to his tattoo that he plays off, then there are bits and pieces of information that Sophia has managed to gather. As the reader I'm wondering if he's on the up and up or is he perhaps involved in some type of criminal activity? Does he have Mafia ties or something to that effect? I definitely want to know more about him and how their arrangement will work out for them. And of course I want to see what other wicked delights Sebastian has in store for her. I'll make sure to stock up on some ice for book #2.
Disclaimer: I received a review copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I kept seeing Maya Cross' Locked at a few blogs and the cover kept catching my eye! Look at it-it's gorgeous! I knew I had to read this as soon as possible and even though I always read a synopsis before purchase, I didn't do it for Locked.Maya Cross has us asking, who is Sebastian Lock? Readers will be intrigued the moment he makes an appearance and no doubt you'll find yourself a bit smitten. Sophia Pearce is enjoying a night out with friends when they notice a group of people entering the bar and heading straight towards the back. They pay no real attention until they recognize an actor with an entourage and suddenly Sophia has a plan to infiltrate the exclusive party and find out what is going on. Little does she know, Sebastian Lock is there and when he spies her, he quickly approaches her and what ensues is a memorable first introduction. Sophia knows her time at the exclusive party is coming to an end and proceeds to leave, but only to find herself lost looking for an exit. I won't say anything else, but let's just say, I particularly enjoyed Sebastian's quip about seeing Sophia again. The narrative is first person, but it doesn't necessarily take away from finding out who Sebastian is. It is a novella and there isn't in-depth character development, but for this particular story, I don't feel Cross could have added more. We get a good idea about Sebastian's character and he's one never to take no for an answer. I have problems with some erotic books that come on the market; while some women may find a man who constantly shows up where you're at sexy, I find it creepy. Sebastian doesn't fall in the creepy category and he's willing to cut his losses if things with Sophia don't work out. Sophia is spunky and confident and she's someone I would want to be friends with. She doesn't back down and isn't afraid to say no. I loved the conversations between Sophia and Sebastian.Locked ends on a cliffhanger and lucky for us the wait for the second book, Lockout, isn't far away since it's now available. The third book in the series is due to come out in July and therefore the wait between books isn't too long. I debated with the rating between a three and four and in the end decided on a four because it's well written and filled with intrigue. A bit of warning, there is some BDSM, but it's light and I don't think it will affect a reader too much especially if they aren't into reading BDSM plots.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/52.5/5.0Attorney Sophia Pearce is out with her friends bar hopping when they end up in a dive bar. While there an intriguing thing happens. Well-dressed people enter the bar, walk up to a previously unnoticed door now guarded with a large sentry and disappear through it. Sophia and her friends are curious, but it’s Sophia who decides to try for entry. When she manages to get through the door, what and who she finds behind it are not what she is expecting. This short story is well-written, the characters are interesting and the steamy scenes are definitely hot. However, it just wasn’t a read for me. I’m discovering that I don’t like reading about submissives, most likely because I am not submissive in any way. I have no problem with someone who is a submissive or who is discovering that they are submissive, it’s just that reading a story told solely from the sub’s POV doesn’t float my boat. In addition, the abrupt end to the story was jarring. I understand that this is the first in a trilogy, but the ending could have been more smoothly done. On a positive note, I am highly curious as to what Sebastian actually does. A mystery man is so appealing!I recommend this to subs or those who like stories told from the sub’s POV. *Book source ~ Purchased on Amazon for a Goodreads group read.
