About this audiobook
It's pure luck that places Stone Barrington on the streets in the dead of night, just in time to witness the horrifying incident that turns his life inside out. Suddenly he is on the front page of every New York newspaper, and his life is hopelessly entwined in the increasingly shocking life (and perhaps death) of Sasha Nijinsky, the country's hottest and most beautiful television anchorwoman. Stone finds himself caught in a perilous web of unspeakable crimes, dangerous friends, and sexual depravity.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This series piqued my curiosity when I saw someone's status about it and I remembered it was recommended to me some time ago. When I saw the library had the 1st in the series, I thought I'd give it a go. I don't think this is a series I'll be binging on. While I love my police procedurals, this was a little too fluff for me. I need more plot and there was just too much romance and a little too much fluff. This is the same issue I've had with [author:Evanovich, Janet14285576]'s series. I don't need heavy crime, but I need a story that I want to solve. It didn't help that I didn't care much for stone or his lady friend. That said, I found myself stuck into the story today because I wanted to know how it was going to end. I also liked the landmarks of NYC past -- including Elaine's. RIP. One technical issue-there was no passage of time marked so it was hard to know where in time the chapters were relative to previous ones. I'm not sure whether this is an ebook bug or issue in all editions.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love Stuart Wood!!! Send audiobook was wonderfully done. It was engaging… I couldn’t stop listening!!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5...it's okay, not great, not horrible, just middle of the road. Easy reading. I do like that Woods did not wrap it all up neat and tidy and that it wasn't totally NYPD Blue. But I think he could have been a bit more adventurous.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Fast, easy read. Nothing complicated or, quite frankly, redeeming in this, but just a popcorn book, if you will. Will probably read more Stone Barrington adventures in the future just for the escapism.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Fast moving with lots of twists. The ending is the best.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This first Stone Barrington novel has you loving Stone from the very beginning. I love characters and Stone is definitely an interesting character.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Gorgeous anchorwoman falls/is pushed out of a 62 story skyscraper and somehow (terminal velocity meet flying squirrel) survives for a little bit. Creepy failed doctor turned embalmer is one suspect. Co-anchor (jealous male) another. Someone is murdering cabbies; someone else is making Yuppies disappear. Stone Barrington, our hero, is getting it on and on with gorgeous, buxom sex machine Rachel (or was it Rebecca?) Already I can't remember. In the end--spoiler alert--it's gorgeous buxom Rachel who is the killer. Creepy failed doctor is also a killer. He is killing the Yuppies so that he can embalm them and set them up at a dinner party where they are young and beautful forever. Oh, and he steals body gorgeous anchorwoman, embalms her, and has her at the party. Did I mention that the anchorwoman is really a man? Or that the sex machine falls out a window, her husband says "My wife is dead!" and the cop replies, "Get used to it, Pal. She's New York Dead." So how does it get 2.5 stars? Well, it moved along
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A friend strongly recommended Staurt Woods, to some egree because of his connection with the State of Maine. This is teh first novel in the Stone Barrington series and it is a lot of fun. The activities are definitely adult in nature, as though Woods is living his fantasies through the barrington character. I wilkl go ahead and read more of this series to see how this character matures.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Fast, easy read. Nothing complicated. After the victim turns out to be a society climber with aspirations on news anchor, I was afraid that it would be one of those conspiracies built around hoidy-toidy New York society and that Sherlock Holmes would appear with a briar and a funny hat. But it turned out to be a reasonable cop drama. Not everyone is portrayed in a good light but that adds to the drama in it. It was light and fun; think I'll try another.
