About this audiobook

Accident victim Faith Parker has done what her doctors feared she never would: awakened from the coma that held her prisoner for weeks. But she has no memory of the crash that nearly killed her-or the life that led up to it. Nor does she remember journalist Dinah Leighton, the steadfast friend who visited her in the hospital...until she disappeared without a trace. Now as Faith begins to regain her strength, she's shocked by intimate dreams of a man she doesn't recognize and tortured by visions of violence that feel painfully real. Something inexplicable ties her lost memories to Dinah's chilling fate. But even as Faith tries to understand the connection and reach out to save Dinah, death is stalking both women. And one of them will not escape its lethal grasp. FBI agent Noah Bishop has a rare gift for seeing what others do not, a gift that helps him solve the most puzzling cases. Now, read more of his electrifying adventures in two stand-alone tales of psychic suspense.

    Synopsis:
After awakening from a coma with no memory of the accident or her life preceding it, Faith Parker starts piecing her life back together and discovers that her only friend has disappeared without a trace. Soon, Faith is shocked by intimate dreams of an unknown man and tortured by visions of violence. Can she learn the truth about herself and her friend before her dreams come true?

    Review:
This review is going to be shorter than some of my others as I don’t want to give away any of the surprises. Suffice it to say that this is a good story with characters that are easy to identify with and a clever plot with an extra twist at the end.

The heroine, Faith, copes with the revelations concerning her life with strength and dignity. She never allows the pain and hardship to overwhelm her and I was really rooting for her happy ending.

The book is well-written with a skillful buildup of tension and suspense that ratchets up a notch toward the end. The romance angle, however, is too subdued and could have been better balanced with the suspense.

Hiding in the Shadows is Kay Hooper's second installment of the Shadows' books. Once again, we see Noah Bishop, the FBI profiler, in a story that deals with the unknown. He has come to help his good friend, Noah MacGregor, look for Dinah Leighton. Dinah is an investigating reporter who is hot on the trail of something so big that she is not about to reveal anything until she has all the facts. Then suddenly she disappears without a trace. At the core of the novel is a mind blowing plot, with enough twists and turns to keep readers on the edge of their seat.

The second book of the Shadows Trilogy. Faith Parker wakes up from a coma. Dinah Leighton, a woman she doesn't remember, visited her in the hospital, has taken care of her medical bills, paid six months rent on her apartment, and deposited enough money in Faiths bank account that she need not worry about money for a time. Faith wonders why. But before she can find out, Dinah is kidnapped. Faith has visions in her mind of where Dinah is being held and what will happen to her. Can Faith, with the help of Dinah's closest friend Kane MacGregor find her in time? Another thriller from Kay Hooper.

This book was very confusing. Since it's a Hooper, I was perfectly able to accept the psychic explanation running through most of it - that Dinah was somehow passing messages to Faith. Faith's lapses confused me, and made me worry about exactly what Dinah's power was. But the twist of what was actually going on was much weirder than I thought (even though this was my second reading - I'd completely forgotten the actual solution). The revelation of the criminal was an afterthought and side issue (though I also had no idea who that was!) - Dinah and Faith, and Kane's reaction to them, was the real story. In a way, this is more of a romance than many Hoopers - the crime was the trigger but not the focus of the story (they weren't hunting down a serial killer, for a change). Not bad, not wonderful, I'll probably re-read it.

Faith wakes up from a coma and discovers that Dinah, her friend is missing and passing messages on in her dreams. Good read with a good twist in the end.
