About this audiobook

The Evil That Men Do introduced readers to the lifework and the techniques of FBI profiler Roy Hazelwood. Now, in Dark Dreams, Hazelwood-writing with bestselling author Stephen G. Michaud-brings us deep into the minds of his prey, the world's most dangerous sexual criminals, and reveals the extent to which these individuals permeate our society.

Profiler Roy Hazelwood is one of the world's leading experts on the strangest and most dangerous of all aberrant offenders-the sexual criminal. In Dark Dreams he reveals the twisted motive and thinking that go into the most reprehensible crimes. He also catalogs the innovative and remarkably effective techniques- investigative approaches that he helped pioneer at the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit-that allow law enforcement agents to construct psychological profiles of the offenders who commit these crimes.

Hazelwood has helped track down some of the most violent and well-known criminals in modern history; in Dark Dreams he takes listeners into his world-a sinister world inhabited by scores of dangerous offenders for every Roy Hazelwood who would put them behind bars.

One of the darkest, most upsetting, but most informative and fascinating true crime books I have ever read. Incredibly insightful.

This book makes me regret not pursuing a career in behavioral analysis. As a child I grew up reading Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books. Swore I’d be a detective. When watching news reports on crimes committed locally, nationally and internationally, I always tried to picture the crime scenes. Senior year of high school I started watching a show on NBC called “Profiler” I was sold. I went into John Jay College of Criminal Justice in ‘99 majoring in forensic psychology. It was short lived. I came to the conclusion that I didn’t have the mindset for working with the FBI, dealing with crime scenes and doing behavioral analysis/profiling of serial killers and the such. I look back now and regret that decision. Because through the past 20 years, all I live for is true crime books, shows, etc… audiobooks and books like these remind me of the career I thought of pursuing a long time ago. Engaging, there are so many things I keep learning whether it be about a serial killer I never knew about or techniques, procedures, etc… used not only from over a half century ago but also well into the 21st century. I literally stayed up throughout the whole read! I can’t stop binging on this app! Definitively a must read or hear ? for the avid true crime fan!

It's a good read if you're truly a crime devourer. The info is all excellent and accurate as far as my schooling has shown. Those not highly invested might find it too academic.

Dark Dreams is a brilliantly written, if disturbing, look into the mindset of sexual predators as told by one of the giants in the field of criminal profiling, Roy Hazelwood. It is one of those books you just can't put down, but at the same time does not needlessly sensationalize the rather dark subject matter. You get the dirty details essential to each case cited and the author explains the hows and whys behind the perpetrator's actions. Very readable and far less dry that most books of the true crime genre. If you have even the slightest interest in forensic psychology or the process of criminal profiling, this book is a must!

Excellent book written by one of the few true experts in the filed. Well organized and well written and will help the reader understand these types or criminals better, at least somewhat.DP Lyle, Award-winning author of the Dub Walker and Samantha Cody thriller series
