About this audiobook

When an archaeological dig unleashes a centuries-old virus, paramilitary operative Cole 'Tox' Russell is forced back into action. With the help of archaeologist Tzivia Khalon and FBI agent Kasey Cortes, Tox searches for answers--and becomes entangled in a web of deception. As the team races to stop a pandemic, a secret society counters their every move. Kendig Ratchets Up the Action in Her New Suspense Series! Four years after a tragic mission decimated his career and his team, Cole "Tox" Russell is persona non grata to the United States. And that's fine--he just wants to be left alone. But when a dormant, centuries-old disease is unleashed, Tox is lured back into action. Partnered with FBI agent Kasey Cortes, Tox has to pull together a team to begin a globe-spanning search for answers--and a cure. As their quest leads them from continent to continent, it slowly becomes clear they're not just fighting a plague--but battling against an ancient secret society whose true goals remain hidden. With time running out and opposition growing on every side, the key to everything may rest in an antique codex, the Crown of Jerusalem--but will Tox and his team be able to trust each other enough to break this century-spanning conspiracy of silence?

When you crack the spine of Conspiracy of Silence by Ronie Kendig, you'd best prepare for an enthralling read packed with fast paced action. Having never read a Ronie Kendig book, I wasn't prepared for the detailed action description and the intriguing multi-layered story. This was a hard-to-put-down book; although when I first looked at my copy, I thought to myself this is going to be a long, strung-out read. I was so surprised that those 400 plus pages just rapidly flipped by with multi-continental locations, a dip into ancient and medieval history involving holy censors and the Codex (early bound Biblical leaves, sheets), and a plague of Biblical proportions.I can hardly wait to read book two in "The Tox Files" to see just what Cole 'Tox' Russell gets himself involved. I loved the interaction in the team of men that worked with Tox and, of course, the character of Kelsy and her history and current interaction with Tox.DISCLOSURE: I was provided a complimentary copy by Bethany House Publishing to facilitate this review of my original opinions. I was not compensated for a review.

Title: Conspiracy of Silence (The Tox Files #1)Author: Ronie KendigPages: 413 Year: 2016Publisher: Bethany HouseMy rating is 4 stars.Cole “Tox” Russell is a military and political outcast after a failed mission in which many lost their lives. As a result, Tox is sent to prison where he “dies”. In reality, he is sent to Africa and basically not welcomed on U.S. soil. That is until his military skills are needed to save the country and maybe even the world from a deadly plague. At first, he is called in to eliminate an assassin. The person to call him in is his brother, Galen Russell, the President of the United States. Tox and his brother have never gotten along and have a tangled past history. But when called to save his country, Tox answers. He gathers his former special ops team members, who have trouble trusting him at the beginning of their mission. They soon fall back into their old camaraderie and their trust for Tox returns.Kasey Cortes has been in love with Tox since she was twelve and he was dating her older sister. She now works as a deception expert for the FBI. She dedicated her career to following Tox’s trial and proving his innocence. When he “dies”, she mourns him but goes on with life. With his return from the dead, all of her feelings for him return, but is he the same man she once knew? She demands to be a part of his team and soon finds herself a target of a group of assassins. This group is out to obtain four censors from the time of Moses discovered recently. The censors were tied to stopping a plague God sent as a result of rebellion among the Israelites. Tox and his team need to gather the censors to try to stop the plague, but the assassin group wants the censors to spread the plague. This book is a good start to this author’s new series. The plot was exciting and filled with suspense and tension. There is plenty of action with a military focus. One thing I didn’t care for was the many characters in the story. There were so many I had trouble keeping them all straight. Other than that aspect, I was driven to finish the book to see if the team was successful in their mission. Haven’s profession of a deception expert with the FBI was one I had never heard of, but one I found intriguing. I am anxious to see what develops in the relationship between Tox and Haven in future installments. The aspect of the spiritual battle that ran parallel to the military battle was also an interesting angle that I enjoyed. I also really liked the historical information in the story from various geographical, cultural and religious aspects. I truly enjoyed learning something about different people and places.Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. For a person that people think is dead Tox is a very active from beginning to the end of this book, but there are those that were close to him that have trouble with all that happened before. The story begins at an archeology dig and the finding of what could be the end of society, and crossing the globe to retrieve and try to end what could happen. If you are a person who enjoys action, this book will keep you on the end of you seat, and linger for a long time, all the while making you think that this seems so very real. The author has done a wonderful job of bringing this story from Biblical times to the present, and I can just imagine how awesome it must have been at that dig, at least in the beginning. We all know that Evil lurks, and you will feel like you at an Indiana Jones movie, with that big stone coming at you.I received this book through the Publisher Bethany House and their Blogger Program, and was not required to give a positive review.

Oh my where to start? My heart is still pounding from the adrenaline rush I just experienced reading this book. The action is top notch and the underlying threats are so vivid I could feel the country start to tighten their reins in other countries. What if you were the most elite black ops soldier around? You are named Tox and you have been called in to do the most dangerous mission ever and your team is ready to go. I can hear Tox commanding his team to be on hyper alert and to have each other's back. The author writes such descriptive scenes that I am felt like I was tagging along on the mission. Did I mention that Tox is not really alive? Oh that is just a minor detail that the rest of the world believes. He is like the skilled assassin that slips in without a sound and disappears before he is even noticed. As he takes this mission he runs into walls everywhere. Is he really backed by the president? Why are there so many unanswered questions about the mission? The author keeps readers riveted to the story with secrets, links to a group that could be dangerous and a spiritual battle of the highest caliber Get ready for characters that grab your attention with their diverse personalities and a story so powerful you will feel your heart pounding as you turn the pages as quick as you can. This is a must read for fans that love intrigue, danger and epic challenges . Grab a copy and get ready for battle. I received a copy of this book from the author and Bethany House Publishing. The review is my own opinion and I was not compensated for it.
