About this audiobook
He was a model citizen. A hospital volunteer. And one of the most sadistic serial killers of all time. But few people could see the cruel monster beneath the colorful clown makeup that John Gacy wore to entertain children in his Chicago suburb. Few could imagine what lay buried beneath his house of horrors-until a teenage boy disappeared before Christmas in 1978, leading prosecutor Terry Sullivan on the greatest manhunt of his career.
Reconstructing the investigation-from records of violence in Gacy's past, to the gruesome discovery of twenty-nine corpses of abused boys in Gacy's crawlspace and four others found in the nearby river-Sullivan's shocking eyewitness account takes you where few true crime books ever go: inside the heart of a serial murder investigation and trial.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This guy's voice is so breathy and old. Like, I can understand what he's saying but the bass of his breathy voice... I can actually feel it in my ears at the end of every sentance. Every sentance he speaks sounds the same.
The book seems okay but I can't make the best assessment. Think I'm over trying.2 people found this helpful

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Okay so here's my take on this one... If you like reading about play-by-play police procedures then this book is for you. If not, this book will get very boring very quickly. I wanted so much more out of this book than what it delivered. I wanted a little more insight into Gacy himself. This book was more of a fact delivering work instead of a story that is being told. It's just fact after fact after fact. And some facts that are told in the book need more information and we as the reader never get it. Sadness ☹️Also I have to mention that the cover looks a bit too much like a tabloid headline for me.like I said if you like police procedures and fact listing then you will like this book. If not don't bother.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Thorough review of the Gacy killings, however, the author seems to gloat towards the end of the book about his life and the things he’s done.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5very well done, and very fascinating take from the view of the prosecutor!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book was absolutely amazing! It takes you through the entire investigation and court process and even though you know what is going to happen, you are feeling anxiety and anticipation right along with them! I learned so much about not only Gacy, but also about the entire group of people working to bring him to justice. Amazing journey!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Really loved this one, hope to read more like it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Amazing true crime story of determined police vs criminal very close but most clever. Well told.
