Lone Witness by Rachel Dylan is the second book in her Atlanta Justice series. Prosecutor Sophie Dawson is the only witness to a ruthless double murder by the younger brother of a notorious gang leader. Now, she must testify and prosecute a local bank employee who might be cheating his customers, all while staying out of the cross-hairs of the gang. Convinced that she is in danger her father hires Cooper Knight as Sophie’s bodyguard. With threats coming from everywhere, Cooper and Sophie are not sure whom they can trust. Will Cooper be able to keep Sophie alive to testify? It’s only a matter of time before someone strikes again and this time it could be fatal. Wow, this story was very intense! From the very beginning you were sucked in and it never let up. There were a few surprises that I didn’t see coming. I loved the interaction between Sophie and Cooper and the way they supported each other in their weaknesses. I was afraid that the court room dialogue would become too technical but Ms. Dylan made it all very easy to follow and not be boring. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who likes fast paced action thrillers.I received this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Sophie recently earned a promotion at the district attorney's office, and she has a fraud case on her hands involving a local bank employee. Then one terrifying night, Sophie is on the scene of a brutal double homicide. Since she's now at risk as both a prosecutor and an eyewitness, her father hires a private security guard, Cooper, to keep her safe in Lone Witness by author Rachel Dylan. This second novel in the Atlanta Justice series can stand on its own, though it brings back a few characters from the previous book. Like that first book, this novel's strength is in the legal side of things, how the cases unfold in and out of the courtroom. I anticipated the more explosive moments of danger, but there were other key twists I didn't see coming. While this novel is labeled as romantic suspense, I'm not sure I'd call it that. Because it includes the perspectives of several characters, two of which are involved in their own subplot, it's more of a story about various people than about a romantic couple. Also like the first book, the romance thread isn't the novel's strong point. There's a lot of clichéd phrasing, a trite feel to the development, and though the story tells us Sophie and Cooper have "intense physical chemistry," I wasn't convinced of it. The turning point/climax of their relationship comes about with a major change of mind, but we don't get to see a gradual process or a momentous event that brings about that specific change, to make it more believable.Nevertheless, Sophie's contrasting roles as lawyer and witness kept me interested, and other fans of ChristFic legal suspense should enjoy this read.____________Bethany House provided me with a complimentary copy of this book for an honest review.

This is absolutely fabulous. I did not want to put this down. I loved the romance between Sophie and Cooper. This is book 2 in the Atlanta Justice series and these stories just get better. There were many twists and turns throughout the story and I loved the intrigue.. I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

Title: Lone Witness (Atlanta Justice #2)Author: Rachel DylanPages: 320Year: 2018Publisher: BethanyMy rating is 5 out of 5 stars. When you start reading this story, be prepared to be unavailable until the end! In the story, we meet a seasoned prosecutor who witnesses a vicious crime and is the only witness to the perpetrator. At first, it sounds like a simple or somewhat straight forward tale, but don’t believe it! What I found inside was a very suspense filled thriller that had me turning pages until I was done! The first book in the series is titled, Deadly Proof and I so enjoyed that one that I highly anticipated Rachel Dylan’s next book. Yet, the author exceeded all my expectations and hope for a legal thriller! One of the main characters is Sophia Dawson whose legal practice is in white collar crimes after being in another division for the prosecutor’s office. When she starts to investigate boxes of paperwork and begins trial preparation after the criminal trial as a witness, what follows is a rollercoaster ride that readers will find themselves on as they follow what is unveiled in the case Sophia is now working. There is action, danger, twists, turns and high-speed thrills that had me up for hours because I was so hooked on the plot. Where was the author going to take the story, her characters, the sub-characters, the danger that kept climbing right when I thought it had reached a climax? Her knowledge and experience come into play as evidenced by the way she describes the internal thoughts and struggles of the lawyer players. The times the audience is taken into the courtroom were very exciting for me as well as how a witness is prepared to testify. The differences in the practices of the attorneys and their personalities adds another layer of flavor in story. If you love suspense, thrillers, romance, faith, and a solid story, then look no further as Rachel has given audiences two well done books to relish! Grab a copy of each and be prepared to be unavailable while your lost in the pages of the novels.Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. Rachel Dylan’s Atlanta Justice series just keeps getting better and better with each successive book. I really liked Deadly Proof, but Lone Witness checked all my boxes when it comes to romantic suspense. The action was fast-paced and kept the characters and me on our toes, and the romance was sizzling sweet! If you haven’t tried this series, you need to!Sophie Dawson is a character to love. This unassuming young woman is dogged in her role as prosecutor. No matter what her cases and life throw at her, she keeps her balance with God’s help. Panic attacks may try to sideline this character, but she relies on her faith, family, and friends to power through. Cooper is a great hero. He takes his role as protector seriously. Sparks fly from the first interaction between these two, but I loved how Dylan kept their relationship from developing too quickly. There are obstacles on both sides for the characters which the author carefully works through. The suspense element was full of twists and turns, and I liked that I never knew just who was behind the threats. For those who love legal suspense, two cases are involved — a double homicide and embezzlement. There’s something for everyone! The faith message is front and center in Lone Witness, but it never comes off preachy. It is a natural part of the characters’ everyday lives. And while both main characters are people of faith, life is still full of challenges and struggles — real life stuff here.Lone Witness is a standalone book, but I recommend you get both books in the series. They are just so good! Now I just have to wait patiently for book 3!Recommended.Audience: adults.(Thanks to Revell for a complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are mine alone.)
