About this audiobook

After getting left at the altar, Kenzie Gifford flees to San Francisco to start her life over, determined never to love again. She's made new friends and has a good job in the office of her cousin's chocolate factory. The only thorn in her side is Dr. Micah Fisher, who insists on pursuing her despite her constant rejection. Then the Great 1906 Earthquake strikes the city, and everything changes. The devastation all around her makes Kenzie reevaluate her outlook on life--and possibly even her feelings for Micah. But then her world is rocked again when her ex-fiance appears, full of apologies and determined to win her back. But Arthur already broke her heart once. Does she dare trust him again? The sudden arrival of a hidden danger will expose the motivations of all involved, but it could cost Kenzie her life--as well as her heart.

Now this is the third book in this series, and you might want to treat yourself and read them too, but you can read this one alone, the author gives you enough to keep you up to date.We are now in the clean up phase after the devastating earthquake that shook San Francisco, and are offered some interesting facts of what was really happening there. We are caught of in the lives of several of the characters, with more to come. There are times here when evil really raises its ugly head, and you will be holding your breath at the outcome.I loved the epilogue we are given! You don't want to miss this great read filled with love, compassion, and forgiveness!I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Bethany House, and was not required to give a positive review.

I've always enjoyed books by Tracie Peterson, because she does a fantastic job of leaving me with a deeper appreciation of the historical era and setting she portrays, and characters whose relationships are endearing. When I saw that she wrote a series set in one of my favorite cities, I knew I would love it! And I wasn't wrong. I read all three books in the last couple of weeks, and thoroughly enjoyed them! More than once, I found myself reflecting on my faith, hopes, and dreams, and considered myself blessed for having been led to certain veins of thought in exact moments orchestrated by God Himself. I highly recommend this series if you are looking for books with the right touch of fiction and historical accuracy woven together.

This was a very interesting series by Tracy Peterson About three young women who set off to San Francisco. One is in search of her long-lost brother, Another is in search of love, while the third is running away from love. Will each of these ladies find what they are looking for or find more than they are looking for? A good series set in turn of the century California with a backdrop of the great San Francisco earthquake and its devastation.

In Times Gone By is the final book in the Golden Gate Secrets series. I do recommend reading the books in the Golden Gate Secrets series in order. I found In Times Gone By to be well-written with a gentle pace. I would have preferred more of a page turner. Tracie Peterson captured the time period with the devastation of the earthquake, the clothing, conveyances, politics, and attitudes of the people. Tracie Peterson manages to incorporate the historical events seamlessly into the story. Corruption was rampant in government and it was tough to fight the political machine as we see with Patrick Murdock’s story. The characters are developed, and they continued to grow over the course of the series. While In Times Gone By focuses on Kenzie, we also find out what happens with Camri and Judith. Plus, Judith’s relation, Victoria comes to San Francisco and manages to cause problems. I was not fond of Victoria and her shenanigans. I was especially disappointed that the villains did not get what was coming to them (a great injustice). Kenzie’s indecision where romance is concerned is understandable, but I felt it was drawn out. I admired Micah’s persistence where Kenzie was considered, but it can come across as pushy (nowadays it would probably land him in jail and with a restraining order against him). Christianity is an essential part of the story. The main characters beliefs are a part of who they are, and it shows in their everyday lives (having faith, praying, following God’s will and the path he has for their lives). The action picks up near the end of the book and the conclusion will leave readers smiling. I was happy the author provided an epilogue. I am giving In Times Gone By 4 out of 5 stars (I liked it). Fans of historical fiction and Tracie Peterson will be satisfied with the final book in the Golden Gate Secrets series.

Title: In Times Gone By (Golden Gate Secrets #3)Author: Tracie PetersonPages: 317Year: 2018Publisher: Bethany House My rating is 4 out of 5 stars.Having read books one and two in the series, I was excited to get book three from the library so I could sit down and get to Kenzie’s story. Kenzie Gifford has sworn that she will never love again. She was left at the altar, humiliated and devastated in front of her family and friends. She has come to California to begin life with a fresh start. She has gotten a job working for her cousin at a chocolate candy company. She lives with Judith and Camri, her two best friends, as well as Camri’s brother, Caleb. They have been living at the warehouse, opening their doors to the poor after the San Francisco earthquake disaster. While there, Kenzie comes in repeated contact with Dr. Micah Fisher, Caleb’s best friend. Micah has made no secret that he would like to court Kenzie, but she has told him she is not interested. Micah refuses to give up his pursuit of her. With so many people needing care, Micah enlists Kenzie to be his nurse. She agrees and finds she actually likes nursing and working with Micah. She admires his medical skill, but she refuses to believe she feels anything more than friendship for him…really, that’s all. She unexpectedly receives a visit from someone in her past that causes her to doubt past actions. What is what she is told is true? Did she make a hasty or faulty decision leaving her hometown a year ago? What should she do now?I have been entertained throughout this series. The mystery aspect in this novel held my interest, as well as the romantic tension between Micah and Kenzie. With the couples and some other characters from the prior two novels making appearances in this story, made me feel like I was revisiting old friends. God’s loving provision for his children is a theme evident in the series, as well as the characters learning to trust that He will do what is best for all involved in any and every situation.

First, I requested this book to read and review. I was given an advanced reader's copy and the review is my own and freely given.I liked this series, this is the 3rd book, but was a little underwhelmed with this book. The characters are well developed but since this was supposed to be mostly about Kenzie, I felt it lacked in fulfilling that goal. I feel like this because there was a lot of the story involving Victoria, from the second book and she could have easily been given a lot less time. I also felt that if that much space was given to her, the ending of her part was lacking.Overall, I felt the story flowed well. The plot was interesting and I would recommend this series to my friends. Since it was not a final text book, it is hard to comment on the grammar though there were places I hoped will be fixed in the final version. Not many, but a few. I also appreciate that this is truly a Christian book. Tracie Peterson does a very good job at showing what a true Christian should be like and not being preachy.
