About this audiobook

Suspense melds with romance as the past meets the present in this engrossing new novel from USA TODAY bestselling author Colleen Coble.

Harper Taylor is used to being alone. Her mother passed away in a car accident when she was an infant, she never knew who her father was, and now even the widowed grandmother who raised her is gone. She’s done just fine investing her marine biology degree and her energy into her pen shell business.

The last thing she expects is for the DNA test she took to reveal a likely half-sister. And when she and Annabelle meet, there are striking similarities in their stories. Is it just coincidence that both their mothers died tragically without revealing Harper and Annabelle’s father’s name?

When Harper’s business partner has a stroke, his son Ridge steps in to help. Before long, he's spending more time with her than the business would dictate . . . and Harper finds she doesn’t mind in the least.

When yet another tragedy strikes close to home, though, Harper and Ridge realize that the secrets of the past can’t stay there. They’ll have to unravel Harper’s past before they can secure their future.

It was good book but I had figured out some of what was going on long before the end , but ending still was a bit of a surprise. Will Not say more and spoil the book for others.

I really enjoyed this book (And totally didn’t stay up till 2 AM reading it ?). One of the things I found interesting about it was the age of the characters; they're both in their early 30s. Now, in most romance novels I’ve read, the characters are somewhere between 16-25, so finding a book about older characters that was just as cute as the rest made me happy! In my writing, I have often wondered if my characters would be ‘too old’ by the time the action had settled down enough to focus on romance. This was a good reminder that you are never ‘too old’ for romance.

I’ve never read a real murder mystery before; and frankly I was a bit sceptical about ‘Christian’ and ‘Murder Mystery’ being used to describe the same book. But, I was pleasantly surprised! This book was neither the kind of book that is labelled Christian but hardly mentioned God or Christianity at all, nor the kind of book that is so preachy and pious that you can’t even enjoy the story. This book was just so… natural… When it mattered, God was there in the story! I felt like all the reactions of the characters were very realistic, and so was their relationship with God.

On the mystery side, I couldn’t get enough. As more and more pieces clicked together, I got more and more enthralled. The far reaching effects of lust were brought out as the characters got closer to the truth. Of course, it turns out mostly alright in the end, but there was enough trial and loss throughout that you couldn’t say it was a happy ending.

All in all, this book was a masterpiece, and I can’t wait to read more of Colleen’s work!

I never thought I would use the word Christian and murder mystery in same sentence. However, the story was good and it was not a gruesome. I recommend it.

Fast pasted and full with variables. The desire to be loved is a driving force within all of us and the author did a good job of playing it out in the lives of the different characters.

Could have been better. Too many incidents would not have happened if the characters have had more sense.
