Beschreibung

From the bestselling author of The Marriage Lie and Three Days Missing comes a riveting new novel of suspense about a woman who, in a fight for survival, must decide just how far she'll go to escape the person she once loved

Beth Murphy is on the run…

For nearly a year, Beth has been planning for this day. A day some people might call any other Wednesday, but Beth prefers to see it as her new beginning—one with a new look, new name and new city. Beth has given her plan significant thought, because one small slip and her violent husband will find her.

Sabine Hardison is missing…

A couple hundred miles away, Jeffrey returns home from a work trip to find his wife, Sabine, is missing. Wherever she is, she's taken almost nothing with her. Her abandoned car is the only evidence the police have, and all signs point to foul play.

As the police search for leads, the case becomes more and more convoluted. Sabine's carefully laid plans for her future indicate trouble at home, and a husband who would be better off with her gone. The detective on the case will stop at nothing to find out what happened and bring this missing woman home. Where is Sabine? And who is Beth? The only thing that's certain is that someone is lying and the truth won't stay buried for long.

I liked the twist ending , however it just seemed to rushed ! it switches near the end leaving you to figure out what happened . your left cofused for a chapter or two.

You'd think you know where the story is heading but no, oh no! It surprised me even if I started to realize what's happening even before the reveal but it was perfectly timed still. It gave me the chills. Highly recommend this!

For 32 chapters I thought I knew exactly in which direction the story was going and then all of a sudden it throws me a major curve. Well done.

Kept me guessing. The story is well written and entertaining. The narrators did a good job with the characters. If you like a good "who dunnit" you'll like this book.

I continually made excuses as to why I needed to keep listening to this audiobook! Dog walks, driving errands, housecleaning.... a superb thriller!

Loved this one! Very unpredictable! Good till the very end.

I found this book to be much more than a suspenseful thriller. It explored the ever present issue of domestic violence and the paranoia it causes in its victims. Well written and beautifully read.

Best book I’ve listened to in a long time. Wish Scribd had a larger, better selection of audiobooks.

Wow. Terrible language but I never had this figured until the author wanted me to... great book and great audiobook
  • (3/5)
Not bad. 'The silent patient' did it better, as did, arguably, Agatha Christi's 'The death of Roger Ackroyd'.
  • (5/5)
Unexpected twist in the story made it even better
