About this audiobook
Perfect for fans of Dark Matter and The Martian, an astronaut returns to Earth after losing her entire crew in an inexplicable disaster in this tense, psychological thriller filled with “eerie and taut storytelling” (Newsweek). But is her version of what happened the truth…or is there more to the story?
After a deadly incident in deep space, Catherine Wells’s ship lost contact with NASA, and the whole world assumed everyone on board had perished. Miraculously—and mysteriously—Catherine survived, but with little memory of what happened. Despite the horrors she experienced, she was able to navigate home almost a decade after the mission began.
But her homecoming is not exactly what she imagined—not everyone at NASA is thrilled by her miraculous reappearance; her husband has moved on with another woman; and the young daughter she left behind is a resentful teenager she barely recognizes. Catherine is also different after her long and turbulent mission. There are periods of time she can’t account for, and she has haunting, unexplainable flashbacks of communicating with others... Suddenly she can’t trust any of her memories from space. How did her crewmates die. How and why did she survive? And was she ever truly alone up there?

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Aw, that was so disappointing! It had a good premise and as long as it'd avoid the obvious path it'd surely be a decent book. Sadly the plot is exactly what anyone would predict from a lone astronaut with amnesia returning from a presumed failed mission.
Even so, the first 2 acts were fairly decent and the plot moved along convincingly, but the final portion was a shitshow, very rushed, characters became 1 dimensional and everyone generally behaved in the most convenient way possible to turn this into a romcom.
I'll end this review with a warning: this book ends in a ridiculous cliffhanger. It's not only a bad ending plotwise but it's simply not believable and it gives you major "that's not how that works, that's not how any of this works" vibes3 people found this helpful

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Boring and predictable with way too much yada yada about relationships.
I completed the book so you don’t have to. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A gripping psychological mindf*ck that anyone could appreciate. Our heroine is not entirely to be trusted but very relatable. Her unexpected return from a NASA mission where she was presumed dead disrupts her husband and daughters life. Then she starts losing time and hearing voices and drinking a lot. She cant remember anything that happened in space. Did she kill her own crew? An enjoyable as you peel the layers of this unputdownable onion. Hope there is a sequel!
