"Reminiscent of Liane Moriarty’s What Alice Forgot and Kate Atkinson’s Life After Life, Oona Out of Order is a delightfully freewheeling romp.” —Booklist (starred review)
Oona Out of Order is a remarkably inventive novel that explores what it means to live a life fully in the moment, even if those moments are out of sequence.
Just because life may be out of order, doesn’t mean it’s broken.
It’s New Year’s Eve 1982, and Oona Lockhart has her whole life before her. At the stroke of midnight she will turn nineteen, and the year ahead promises to be one of consequence. Should she go to London to study economics, or remain at home in Brooklyn to pursue her passion for music and be with her boyfriend? As the countdown to the New Year begins, Oona faints and awakens thirty-two years in the future in her fifty-one-year-old body. Greeted by a friendly stranger in a beautiful house she’s told is her own, Oona learns that with each passing year she will leap to another age at random. And so begins Oona Out of Order...
Hopping through decades, pop culture fads, and much-needed stock tips, Oona is still a young woman on the inside but ever changing on the outside. Who will she be next year? Philanthropist? Club Kid? World traveler? Wife to a man she’s never met?
Surprising, magical, and heart-wrenching, Margarita Montimore has crafted an unforgettable story about the burdens of time, the endurance of love, and the power of family.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Fantastic book. It starts slow like a tiny ball of snow, but the characters and plot pickup and it becomes an unstoppable avalanche. If you think it starts bland, trust me, hang in there because it improves immensely. Power through the first chapters because you are in for a treat.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was a wonderful book; it was interesting to hear how Oona’s life evolved through every year she leaped. The characters and their roles were perfect. Wonderful narrator as well. Recommend!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Chick lit, all right. But such great chick lit. Takes you through the times and motions of a woman tricked by time. Like we all are somehow.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It's a sweet read about life's trials and tribulations. How circumstances can feel all encapsulating one moment but give it time and you'll come to find out what really matters. This book helped give me a fresh perspective.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Light hearted sci-fi drama. Love Oona and her journey ✝️
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Oona is the most unlikeable protagonist I’ve read in a while. If you are looking for a fun, lighthearted book with time travel this isn’t that. The time travel doesn’t make sense at all, and leaves many, many plot holes.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Fun romp through Oona’s life. The time periods were familiar and easy to lose myself in. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good book, but we are stuck with an annoying narrator. She uses the same intonation and emotion on all characters.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I couldn't stop listening! This book is riveting and the narrator is excellent.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5When I read the title I was like uhm what? Then I read the summary and still thought hmmm.... Then I started the book and found it hard to stop... A good book to let everything be for a while.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was my very first so I wasnt sure about it, but I loved this story audio or not. The narrator was perfect. I enjoyed every minute. Brilliant!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Ok, the OCD part of me is itching to understand how the leaps happen in a continuum way. Does a "normal" Oona lived through the timeline linearly first then different Oona versions leaps through those lived timelines randomly? Some decisions are quite annoying too, borderline stupid. Nevertheless, I quite enjoyed some parts of it. I especially like Kenzie and Peter. Seems like the best character of the book have minimal exposure. It wouldn't be a big loss if you haven't read this book but if you did its not really wasted time. Its solid ok book, nothing more nothing less.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved it. Well defined characters, not a dull moment in it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved this book so much, truly did not want it to end.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I just couldn't listen anymore. Sorry but this is bunk to say the least. A great premise but as others have pointed out the main character is really hard to like. This is more like a not so very interesting drama with an interesting idea of time travel included, then chucked and stomped on by no other than the main character because WHY? Rather than actually doing anything or learning from her mistakes...it's just a waste.
Here's the takaway- If you're not willing to listen to yourself why should I? - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The book is WTF, but I loved the narration so much.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Meh. I would have preferred more of a climax.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5DNF @chapter 3. I'm definitely an unpopular opinion with this one. I found Oona very whiny and annoying, and was mostly bored with the story. Unfortunately, this was way overhyped for me.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great book! Love the narrator. Would recommend for a light read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I listened to quickly wish I had some left. Makes you be more grateful and appreciate life.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A very interesting book full of a different look at life.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good book interesting new concept of time travel enjoyed it,
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I want more Oona!! I love time travel stories and this is one of my favorites. So engaging and surprising.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I really liked it. Though i have lots of questions of why it started at 18, why does she need to write letters to future selves (she should know what happen). It's very easy to start a ripple effect and change her future.
I guess all these questions makes it an interesting book. Also it's an easy book to read.
