Beschreibung

A New York Times bestseller

Perfect for fans of Me Before You and One Day—a striking, powerful, and moving love story following an ambitious lawyer who experiences an astonishing vision that could change her life forever.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Dannie Kohan lives her life by the numbers.

She is nothing like her lifelong best friend—the wild, whimsical, believes-in-fate Bella. Her meticulous planning seems to have paid off after she nails the most important job interview of her career and accepts her boyfriend's marriage proposal in one fell swoop, falling asleep completely content.

But when she awakens, she's suddenly in a different apartment, with a different ring on her finger, and beside a very different man. Dannie spends one hour exactly five years in the future before she wakes again in her own home on the brink of midnight—but it is one hour she cannot shake. In Five Years is an unforgettable love story, but it is not the one you're expecting.

Über den Autor

Rebecca Serle is a full-time writer, which means she gets to wear pajamas to work. She went to the University of Southern California, then got her MFA from the New School in NYC. (She likes New York much more than LA, but don’t tell anyone that.) Rebecca loves shiny hair, coffee, yoga, and pretending to be British. She, too, experienced heartbreak once. It worked out okay, though, because she turned the experience into a book.

This book is not what I expected, but it's exactly what I wanted. If you want a book that has all the workings of a romance novel without all the clichés, this is it.

I could not put this book down. It had me wondering through the entire book "how's this going to end??"

It wasn’t the story I thought it would be- it was better. A beautiful love story we don’t hear about too often.

This book is so much more than what I expected. I loved it!

This was a pretty good listen the narrator did a great job!

This was an interesting premise and unexpected love story. It was an engaging listen although it’s not a light and breezy read. I will warn readers there’s an extensive medical treatment section.

Absolutely loved this book. So beautifully written and the characters were brought alive by the stunning narration, so much so that I found myself not wanting it to end. At times it was both heartbreaking and heartwarming, not the predictable "happy ending", but something much more original. If you are looking for predictable this isn't for you, but if you are looking for something that takes you on a journey, this is a beautiful and evocative story. Truly outstanding and one of the best books I've read/listened to.

This idea had a lot of potential, but I didn’t like how it progressed. This is not a romance in my opinion and it’s frustrating because it really had the potential.

What a boring person and boring life. I left at chapter two.
  • (5/5)
Beautiful story of friendship and love. I loved the story and was instantly hooked from the first chapter.

Exquisitely beautiful. A perfect portrayal of so much around love and friendship. This book broke my heart and made me fall in love with it. The narrator also added so much to it.

Yikes. It seems like the author wanted to be ~different~ which leaves the reader wanting more the entire span of the book (also a snooze fest) leaving you very dissatisfied at the end. I’m adding a star for the narrator—I like her. Choose a different audiobook.

An unexpected love story... one of friendships, couples... illness... challenges and finding the ability to overcome. It was a good story, but personally, I didn’t like the sudden coupling of two characters after a loss shared by both of them... the biggest issue for me was that these two characters seemed to be good people but they end up showing such a betrayal to the loved one lost, within only days of the loss. Seemed almost unthinkable given the way the characters were written throughout the novel, and was followed by a quickened end to the book. Frustrating that the author minimized the betrayal and left the reader with that in the end.

I loved it! This book was so good, it is a must read!

More than anything a story about friendship and finding yourself through loving another. I very much enjoyed it.
  • (4/5)
It was a light enjoyable read. I looked forward to listening.

Great performance and sweet story! I highly enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone looking for a light read.

Fabulous concept. Self-aware. Light and whimsical, while holding plenty of tear-jerking moments. A clever twist. And the ending was perfect.

Such a strange ending .. I didn’t see it coming but it was dumb
  • (5/5)
This book was unexpected. I thought I knew where it was headed but it veered elsewhere. I liked it a lot

What a beautiful love story! The love between Bella and Dani and what that love does for each other. Superb story!!
  • (5/5)
The narrator was amazing! But my actual rating for the book is 3.5
  • (5/5)
Beautifully written. Not the ending I expected. Definitely a tear jerker. Although the ending is laid out within the first few chapters, the author does a great job keeping you guessing about how the main character ends up there. Not at al what I would have expected.

    SPOILER:
I would have loved if Danny and Aaron ended up together- having that be Bella’s last gift to both of them.
  • (5/5)
A bit strange.... but a story beautifully told about loss, friendship, and letting go.
  • (5/5)
Loved it. Really makes you think about not settling in life. I finished it too quickly!
  • (3/5)
Good ending and I liked the main character but I found the male characters to be a bit one-dimensional and can't imagine this book appealing to men.
  • (3/5)
Relatable, heartwrenching, predictable but not bad. Good for a Sunday read.
  • (5/5)
It was a page turner. You will enjoy it immensely.

Such an easy, fast consuming story. For anyone that shares the ability to lose control and wrestle with it, the main character is highly relatable and a delight to get to know.
