About this audiobook

This spinoff of The Replacement Crush featuring Amy and Toff is sure to melt your heart.

Shy bookworm Amy McIntyre is about to compete for the chance to interview her favorite author, who hasn't spoken to the press in years. The only way to win is to step out of the shadows and into the spotlight, but that level of confidence has never come easy.

The solution? A competition coach. The problem? The best person for the job is the guy she's secretly crushing on . . . local surfer celebrity Toff Nichols.

He's a player. He's a heartthrob. He makes her forget basic things, like how to breathe. How can she feel any confidence around him?

To her surprise, Toff agrees to help. And he's an excellent teacher. Amy feels braver-maybe even brave enough to admit her feelings for him. When their late night practices become less about coaching and more about making out, Amy's newfound confidence wavers.

But does Toff really like her or is this just another lesson?

I wish there was a way to rate voices as I often have no problem with a story but the voice can be a deal breaker.

I'm turning 30 next year but one is really never too old for a plain good high school love story, are they? Sure, Amy and Toph's story is predictable, but theirs and their loved ones' lives are real - there's grief, uncertainty and insecurities, and love doesn't take those away but makes them worth it.

Very cute! When I first saw this was a YA, I thought about picking a different book, however I'm glad I didn't. "You're not going to turn down a chance to booktalk me are you?" I really enjoyed the story of Toff, surfer god, and Amy, bookworm/yarn bomber/Bonnie and so many other fun nicknames. Many references of Pride and Prejudice as well, if you're a fan, check this cute, YA story out!

It was okay. The voice narration was just not good. Amy sounded squeaky and high pitched. Hard to get into the characters

A really cute story, and with twist and turns it ends up having a happy ending.

The story was meh. I’m sorry to hate on this narration, but I was about ready to throw my phone out halfway through. Like why did Amy’s voice sound like a presenter on Nick jr? Respectfully, it’s a lil squeaky for me. Beyond that, the language in the book was like soooo corny I wanted to cry. “Hunkalicious”?? Ms author are you okay? If I wasn’t paying $8.99 a month for this shit it’d have been a no from me, dawg.

The book is a cute little thing.. the plot was predictable but it still it had the power to still make you want to know more.... i was giggling and smiling like a fool listening to it... you couldn't help but fall for Amy for she is practically US, her love of books, her vast knowledge of other worlds, her insistence that there is a book for everyone.... she is basically the book version of me XD
So yeah if you want a cute and fluffy book... then this is for you... you can thank me later ^^

I liked the story, it was cute and fun. Amy turned out to be a great protagonist. She had that gentle strenght about her, that's what I call a girl power. Through the course of the story she learnt how to express herself better. It's said that courage is a skill and here I can see how that's true. Amy trained her courage muscles and came out victorious.
I'm not a big fan of playboys which is why I approached Toff with caution. He grained on my nerves a few times. The falling-out scene was his low point, that's for sure. I didn't completly buy his character growth, but I guess it's fine. He earned some points by being honest in the end.

I think that the book would've benefited from having two narrators, male and female, to better diffrentiate between the voices of Amy and Toff. If a story is so conveniently split in perspective that'd be the way to do it. I found myself having to pay extra attention sometimes because the distinction wasn't that obvious from the prose alone and because the perspective changes weren't regular.
