Über dieses Hörbuch

In this village, I’m an outcast: Griffin Everett, the scowling giant who prefers plants to people. Then I meet Keynes, a stranger from the city who’s everything I’m not: sharp-tongued, sophisticated, beautiful. Free. For a few precious moments in a dark alleyway, he’s also mine, hot and sweet under the stars...until he crushes me like dirt beneath his designer boot.

When the prettiest man I’ve ever hated shows up at my job the next day, I’m not sure if I want to strangle him or drag him into bed. Actually—I think I want both. But Keynes isn’t here for the likes of me: He makes that painfully clear. With everyone else at work, he’s all gorgeous, glittering charm—but when I get too close, he turns vicious.

And yet, I can’t stay away. Because there’s something about this ice king that sets me on fire, a secret vulnerability that makes my chest ache. I’ll do whatever it takes to sneak past his walls and see the real man again.

The last thing I expect is for that man to ruin me.

Autor

Talia Hibbert

Talia Hibbert is a New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling Black British author who lives in a bedroom full of books. Supposedly, there is a world beyond that room, but she has yet to drum up enough interest to investigate. She writes sexy, diverse romance because she believes that people of marginalised identities need honest and positive representation. Her interests include beauty, junk food, and unnecessary sarcasm.

"You don't give up on someone when they are drowning."

Two grumpy men in a little English village fall in love.

Content warnings : mental illness, ableism, homophobia.

    Griff and Olu deserve hugs.

I really wish I loved this way more than I did. Talia is one of my favorite authors but I guess you win some, you lose some.

This book is just beautiful, the characters are amazingly written and you fall in love with them, as they fall in live with each other. Perfect. The narration is great too, well chosen.

I liked this so much, that I barely know what to do with myself now, that it's over.
I loved how much I felt like, I knew the characters. From what they did, what they said and what they thought. I couldn't help laughing and crying and somehow I feel like, I'm going to miss them.
I don't have anything negative to say. Not one tiny thing! AND on top of that, the narrators gets a huge "chefs kiss" from me as well.
    10/10 would recommend.

Complex, heart-felt, and absolutely delicious. The narrators really do justice to this beautifully written romance.

I am hooked on Talia Hibbert. This story was especially beautiful. The depth of the characters in this books - as with all Hibbert's work - is fantastic. The narrators were also exceptional.

It was perfect! I like how the writer was able paint the picture of 2 actual men. ...most writer’s pictures tend to portray one man lesser than the other, like the relationship between a man and woman... Good work to the narrator too??
