About this audiobook

Hunches, horse races, and heartbreak

Ten years after Simone Payton broke his heart, all Roscoe Winston wants is a doughnut. He’d also like to forget her entirely, but that’s never going to happen. Roscoe Winston remembers everything—every look, every word, every single unrequited second—and the last thing he needs is another memory of Simone.

Unfortunately, after one chance encounter, Simone keeps popping up everywhere he happens to be . . .

Ten years after Roscoe Winston dropped out of her life, all Simone Payton wants is to exploit him. She’d also like some answers from her former best friend about why he ghosted her, but if she never gets those answers, that’s a-okay. Simone let go of the past a long time ago. Seriously, she has. She totally, totally has. She is definitely not still thinking about Roscoe. Nope. She’s more than happy to forget he exists.

But first, she needs just one teeny-tiny favor . . .

This was the first Penny Reid book that I've read and it was absolutely brilliant, Reid is a master writer and I love how her mind works, she has a great understanding of people from all walks of life so I'm assuming she has a very diverse network of friends, and maybe also family?
Usually I skip sections in romance books because they're usually repetitive and predictable, but I didn't want to miss a single second of this one even though I did guess quite a few thing's that did happen.
There were so many funny moments in the book that had me howling. *Mini Spoiler* Did I scare you, Simone?
I almost woke my neighbours up by howling at that whole kitchen scene at 2:30 in the morning!
The character's were great, loveable and well fleshed out, even the small side bar character's were super.
The narrator's were both golden. In fact, they have each secured number one in my male and female best narrator's awards. I'm British so I love American accents but particularly the South for some reason, I'd melt if I had a man with Chris Brinkley's voice *Swoon* I'm so happy that I have tons more of Penny Reid's books to go through over the next year or so!
January LaVoy is an outstanding performer I first listened to her in Steal My Magnolia which I really enjoyed too, she has perfect comedy timing and is a fantastic voice actress (I was even lowkey attracted to her when she did the Roscoe voice!)
I've read my body weight in romance novels and I have to say, Roscoe and Simone's love story is the greatest that I've read, it's completely ruined love for me as I won't settle for anything less than what they had and that's more of less fairy-tale love. I adored Simone as I can relate to her being so closed off to love because I'm the say way myself and I sabotage every relationship that I've been in, or have been close to being in, so I was in hysterics when she became lovesick and listed off all of her ailments and thought that she had a brain disease lol. Simone has to be one of the best character's I've read, she is just so loveable and badass, a wonderful role model for young girls and women. Roscoe was the absolute perfect match to Simone and how his own brain worked was a genius, well made match, I'm so envious of PR that I could never produce such a wonderful book. I'm left wondering if PR based this couple off people she knew, or if her clever mind created them from scratch? I went to bed nightly with sore cheeks from laughing and smiling so much while listening to this book.
Audiobooks can totally bomb if the narrator's are whack, and I've had to ditch many for that very reason, equally they can truly bring a book alive like these guy's have! This has been my favourite book to date, since joining Scribd and this one book was well worth the subscription!

This was fun and Roscoe is my new favorite brother, though I don’t like Simone
