About this audiobook

A horrifying secret rises in the aftermath of an archangelic war in New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh's deadly and beautiful Guild Hunter world . . .

The Archangel of Death and the Archangel of Disease may be gone but their legacy of evil lives on-especially in Africa, where the shambling, rotting creatures called the reborn have gained a glimmer of vicious intelligence.

It is up to Titus, archangel of this vast continent, to stop the reborn from spreading across the world. Titus can't do it alone, but of the surviving powerful angels and archangels, large numbers are wounded, while the rest are fighting a surge of murderous vampires.

There is no one left . . . but the Hummingbird. Old, powerful, her mind long a broken kaleidoscope. Now, she must stand at Titus's side against a tide of death upon a discovery more chilling than any other. For the Archangel of Disease has left them one last terrible gift . . .

This is my favorite book in the series thus far. I loved the adventure but I also loved the character build.

We do not know much about the Hummingbird aside from the fact that he is Illium’s mother and that she is broken. We do know what happened to her, but we know that it is devastating to the point where she did not know what the past was and what was the present.

Archangel Titus is a warrior through and through. After the battle that took place in Archangel's War the world is reeling trying to put things back together. Raphael has decided that since no one is able to deal with Titus that the only person left that might be able to get him together is the Hummingbird. I loved the fact that she has decided to reclaim her name back. She wants people to know her as Sharine. The name Hummingbird was given to her by someone she cared for, but it also became a hindrance as well.

The entire book was Sharine becoming who she was always meant to be. We also got to see so many great scenes with her and not only Illium but also all of the other ‘kids’ what she claims. I loved that she started to remember all that she once was. The fact that she could have been a fighter is interesting. I never expected that, and I am happy that we got to see more to her then what everyone thought she was.

Titus was also a surprise. What we knew was that he was a warrior and that he loved having fun. We got to see so much of his personality, and we also got to see him interact with sisters. The fact that his mother had so many children was surprising. We have been told that Angel children has very few in number, but Titus has 4 sisters, and they are all awake. My mind was blown by that revelation.

We also go a cure to the disease that Archangel Charisemnon created. He was brilliant but also deadly. We got to see the full horror that was him as well as got to see how he treated the humans that were supposed to be in his care. The fact that he is dead did not bother me one bit.

SN: I want to see how Illium’s dad is going to play apart of this new world. We know that he is an ass, but we got to see what he did to make Sharine cross over the line into brokenness. We know what his fear was but how will that play a part in Illium’s story.
