About this ebook

Praise for The Most Improper Miss Sophie Valentine:

"Fresina shows a decidedly humorous, as well as sensual, side that is sure to enchant readers...A true charmer of a read. " —RT Book Reviews

WHEN A SCANDALOUS LADY...

By night Ellie Vyne fleeces unsuspecting aristocrats as the dashing Count de Bonneville. By day she avoids her sisters' matchmaking schemes and dreams up torments for her childhood nemesis—the arrogant, far-too-handsome-for-his-own-good James Hartley. Her latest prank: "winning" the Hardey diamonds in a card game from James's mistress.

STEALS FROM A NOTORIOUS RAKE...

James finally has a lead on the thieving Count de Bonneville, tracking him to a disreputable inn. He bursts in on none other than the brazen, irritating, nearly naked Ellie Vyne. Convinced she is the count's mistress, James decides it's best to keep his enemies close. Very close. He must get those diamonds back, and seducing Ellie will be the perfect bait.

I had forgotten that the hero was in book 1 (yes me and my memory), but forgetting did make it better in a way cos I got to know him again. This was my first impression. Since in book 1 he wanted to marry someone else. Yes you can see why it's good to start on a fresh page ;)

Right then, Ellie is, well she is a lot! She is not one of those usual women of the Ton. She is so much more. She has a reputation of broken engagements and the scandal is that a duke died in her bed. She is also masquerading as a French Count and gains money that way. She is a handful and I liked her.

James and Ellie, well the families are bitter enemies, he called her Ellie Phant once and yes she does not like him. He is a rake, but a rake that has grown old and realised that it does not work as well anymore. In comes Ellie, that menace and he does not know what to do about her. A fun couple to read about.

The book was light, romantic, a bit funny and it made me want more. More will come in form of another menace. Poor ton ;)

James Hartley and Ellie Vyne have always bickered with each other. And they continue to bicker with each other throughout this whole book. They act like they can't stand each other. But it's pretty easy to see they use all that arguing to hide their true feelings and, really, themselves. Neither is completely the person they present to society and their family and friends. It's also a way for them to connect. They seem to really enjoy it and they bicker all the way to the end. I did not like James when he appeared in the previous book. He acted like a real jerk. I wondered how Fresina was going to get me to like him. She presents a more complex James in this book. He's actually pretty sweet. And I liked his humor very much. James won me over.I wouldn't have minded seeing a couple more sweet moments between the two. They always seem in conflict, even when they are intimate. But the characters really make this book. They're fun.ARC provided through NetGalley.

Much better than the first book in the series, where I had a hard time liking anyone other than the main couple. Ellie, however, was an intriguing character in the first book who only put in a brief appearance. James, OTOH, was a featured characters and kind of awful as a person, even one who was supposedly in love. This novel takes place two years later, and James is trying to be a grown up, realizing that his rake days are falling behind him. Ellie is trying to take care of her ungrateful family any way she knows how, and in this case, that involves dressing as a man and fleecing people of their money (and a certain diamond necklace) during card games. The diamond necklace belongs to James, and he wants it back. There is a lot of comedy of errors in this one, and still a few disagreeable characters (I continue to wonder why Fresina insists that nearly EVERY SINGLE MEAN PERSON is fat). Setting aside all my issues, the writing is decent, and the romance is a lot of fun. Yes, you have the misunderstandings (and they're pretty big), but they way these two bicker and argue is so full of joy. Definitely a OTP worth the time to get to know.

“Ellie Vyne never had much sympathy for men, until she temporarily became one.” Her secret life as the gambling Count de Bonneville is helping her take care of her family and it is going to land her in more trouble that she ever dreamed. She is classified as an outspoken old maid at 27 years old according to society’s standards, but she is perfectly happy being single and has broken several engagements to prove it. Disguised as the Count she is given a lavish diamond necklace as an IOU payment from Lady Ophelia Southwold. What she doesn’t know is that the necklace belongs to James Hartley. The one man she despised since she was 16 years old when she overheard him denigrating her character in public.See my complete review at The Eclectic Review

The Wicked Wedding Of Miss Ellie Vyne by Jayne Fresina was a fast read. I read it in about a day and a half. I enjoy Historical Romances and this was no exception. I do however like my HR with a little more romance than I got out of this one.
Ellie is the witty elder daughter of a man who has raised her to be independent, since her mother died when she was a young girl. Ellie, not only takes care of herself but her father and two younger sisters, who happen to be married. In need of money Miss Vyne sets out in disguise as a french Count, gambling and betting to win money to pay the family bills.
James Hartley, ten years Ellie senior and her childhood nemesis appears one night and comes to “save” Ellie from the thieving Count who has stole his diamonds from his mistress. James has no idea that that Ellie and the Count are one and the same.

Ellie is always causing mischief and her name is notorious in scandal, James name in none the cleaner. So when certain circumstances push these two together it is nothing but teasing and smart mouth comments. Will these two ever find common ground?

While this book had some steamy sense it was mild and I found it more funny and corny than your typical Historical Romance. I wanted a little more body to the story and I felt the ending was good it could of been better. This book did have me smiling and wanting to join in some of the fun that these two found for themselves.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves HR’s and mischief.

WICKED WEDDING OF MISS ELLIE VYNE by Jayne Fresina is a rip roaring blast to read. I could not put this deliciously saucy Regency down to save my life. All right, I put it down once, because I was desperate for sustenance to get me through the rest of this outrageously beautiful story. I am a devoted give-a-person-a-second-chance type of girl. So, when WICKED WEDDING OF MISS ELLIE VYNE fell into my cyber lap I could not download this book fast enough. If you are unfamiliar with author Jayne Fresina and not quite sure where to start, why begin with this plus intoxicating story about a the wicked Miss Ellie Vyne who no matter what she does always seems to be in the thick when trouble occurs. I found myself more times than not relating to this rambunctious heroine with a heart of gold more times than not. I felt her insecurities all the way to my toes. The author sparks a translucent light that allows readers to really grasp the emotional push and pull of this particular character. I found myself desperate for Elle Vyne to finally find the love and acceptance that she has always longed for. But for some unknown reason this phenomenon known as unconditional love always seemed to be a whisper of a grasp away from her obtaining. More than once my heart ached for the people in her life who’s perception of what they believed Ellie to be shaped her life. It is no wonder that Ellie takes on the masquerade as the ‘Count de Bonneville fleecing the ton. In one way she is rubbing their nose in the very thing they claim she will never be…proper. As you read you come to understand the pleasure she takes in what was supposed to be a one time lark that inadvertently set her free. Free from the constraints of society, free from her match-making-sisters and the freedom to do exactly what she wants. All of this has come at a price. Being known as the wicked girl with nothing to commend her is harsh, but Ellie does not let that provoke or stop her from obtaining what she believes she wants most… James Hartley is perfect for Ellie Vyne. Her childhood nemesis and then bain of her existence and the man she is terrified to let her guard down in fear of having James crush her heart. He once courted Ellie’s her best friend Sophie Valentine (THE MOST IMPROPER MISS SOPHIE VALENTINE) and was jilted when she fell head over heels in love with Lazarus Kane. Even though it has been two years since he was jilted, Ellie cannot help but doubt any emotional attachment he might have for her. This is a pickle, you see, on the other hand; James has always cared for Ellie, even through her pranks and tricks. There was always something undeniable and tenable when they were together. With James autocratic background he shoved those uncomfortable feeling he had for the hellion away. That is until, he burst through the door looking for the shady villainous character he has tracked down at an inn, only to find “the Vyne woman” half naked and looking like she has just been ravished quite pleasurably does he realize that he can no longer deny what he feels. THE WICKED WEDDING OF MISS ELLIE VYNE is a classic Regency farce. A proverbial he said-she said, with misconception thrown all around James and Ellie’s constant banter and bickering only ads to the comical display of how each is trying to hide their feeling. It has that classic Shakespearean TAMING OF THE SHREW feel to it. Where neither wants to admit the other is right or wrong or that they love each other. Up until the very end the two’s relationship seem solidified by the fact that they quarrel, quite heatedly. Reoccurring characters show up in THE WICKED WEDDING OF ELLIE VYNE to throw a few detours in our couple’s way. Along the way this lively cast of characters added a bright and homey charm that captivates Fresina’s audience from the get go. These fun loving characters will beguile the socks off of readers.THE WICKED WEDDING OF MISS ELLIE VYNE is a true comedy gem stroked with strong elements of romance and sensuality. Fresina gives readers authentic characters that they can grab onto and cheer for as they go on this tumultuous journey to discover their happily ever after.
