- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5The writing was poor. There were a few stories that were entertaining and interesting but skimmed through rather than read it in its entirety.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I love the idea of this book, but though it IS fairly interesting, it's a bit disappointing at times too. Ramsland's writing style is a bit too rambly and anecdotal for me. She tends to jump to something new- just when I'm getting interested. This one is not nearly as confusing and meandering as [book:Piercing the Darkness: Undercover with Vampires in America Today] however.
I do recommend it for writers of horror and dark fantasy. The section on "body cheese" alone is worth the price of admission (although NOT for the squeamish)1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5If you're as morbidly inclined as I am, you'll enjoy this. I had enjoyed Ms. Ramsland's book on ghost hunting, so I snagged this when I saw it at the library and proceeded to be delighted and horrified by turns. I learned all about "corpse cheese," how not to embalm a body, exploding coffins, and the latest in cemetery swag. I've seen memorial web sites, but so far I haven't run across a video memorial AT someone's grave site. It just sounds like MySpace for the dead. But anyway, I would recommend this without reservation and just say I wish it had been longer.
