3.5 Stars. This was a spin-off of her Beau Monde Bachelors series. It has the oldest Forest daughter, Gabrielle, and the friend of her brothers', Anthony. I wasn't as happy with this one as the last series. I didn't understand why they had to drag out the courtship as long as they did. This would've actually made a better novella, which is saying something considering I usually don't like in-between books or novellas. The story I was most interested in, the relationship between Anthony and his daughter, wasn't even really addressed until the last few chapters. I feel that more could've been done with trying to fit Annabelle into the lives of Gabby and Anthony. I'll still read the next book in the series because I love Samantha Grace and I'm sure the next book will be Sebastian Thorne's. I'd recommend this book, but don't go into it expecting to be knocked out by its greatness. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

I was a bit torn when it came to this book, I liked it, until the middle part and there I just got really really mad. Honestly. This was one of the most stupid girls ever! You foolish, foolish girl (I even heart Knigthley in my head when I read the stupid part.) Instead of asking she does something really idiotic which could destroy her life, cos she is an idiot. I know it's for the drama but I made me hate her. She made both Anthony (who loved her) miserable and she made her other suitor miserable in the end too. use your head girl, that is why it's there. *mutters*

Anyway, up to that it was good. Gabby loved Anthony and had for years. But then he went away, he should just have told her everything, but I got why he did not. And she should have trusted him. Then in came Sebastian who courted her so his sister could come out in society again. gabby is a Duke's daughter and good to have on your side. So we have 2 men angry at each other while both courting her, and she does love only Anthony.

Then came the arghhh part and I just got upset. Stupid people does that too me. But when it was over I moved on cos we still had some drama to go through and I felt better cos most were happy. And Sebastian who I did not like at first, well I hope he finds true love soon. He deserves it.

An apologetic rogue!Gabby (Lady Gabrielle Forest) had loved Anthony Keaton, the Earl of Ellis, since before she was thirteen.Ah! That first scene where her love and trust is 'crushed and trampled' by an embarrassed, gauche young man she'd called friend. I ached right along with fourteen year old Gabby.Six years later Gabrielle's love isn't dead, yet! Wounded, yes! Trust however is another matter. After all what would you do if the man who finally said he wanted to marry you had hared off without a word and turned up four months with no explanation?Misunderstandings and misinterpreted actions litter the way. Another suitor and a maybe mistress blur the edges. Anthony and Gabrielle are equally responsible as they sabotage their relationship without any help from others. The course of true love is strewn not just with pebbles but with boulders. The road is not just rocky, they have to scale cliffs before matters can be resolved so that we all are content.A NetGalley ARC

With this story Samantha Grace starts her new series with a spin-off of her Beau Monde Bachelors and you really don’t have to worry about not being able to follow this story if you haven’t read the previous four. The story can be read as a stand-alone.

Lady Gabby has loved her brother’s best friend Anthony ever since she was a very young girl and she always hoped that his feelings for her were the same, yet as Anthony comes of age, he marries another.

Anthony Keaton, Earl of Ellis, was a lonely boy as he was growing up, yet he finds solace and happiness with his best friend’s family. He adored young Gabby and had a special name for her, but being young himself, he never really admitted to deeper feelings for her even to himself. He married young and the marriage wasn’t a happy one. Finally realizing that he’d made a mistake of monumental proportions in not admitting to his feelings for Gabby, he is hell-bent on righting the course of his life by declaring his love for Gabby and walking her down the aisle.

However, it looks like he may just be a tad too late as Gabby has had enough of waiting and pining for him as Sebastian Thorne, Anthony’s rival, is set to beat him to it.

I have to say that this story had me a bit conflicted because the main characters were not as likable as Ms. Grace’s Beau Monde Bachelors were.

No matter how much I wanted to like Gabby, I just couldn’t. She frustrated me to no end. Her inner thoughts were just too childish and that put me off her.

As for Anthony, I warmed up to him more as the story developed, yet even his charm wasn’t enough for me to like the way he acted at times.

The chemistry between the two was there, even when the two were at odds with one another, yet somehow I wanted the passion to be deeper.

In the end, I liked it, but not as much as the previous series. If you like the huge misunderstanding tropes, you probably will love this story.
