World Series
The Red Sox vanquished the Cardinals in six games, riding the bat of MVP David Ortiz, strong pitching from Jon Lester and John Lackey, and a few timely hits to their third duck-boat parade in a decade.
ALCS
The Tigers’ vaunted starters tested Boston, but the Sox rallied to win Game 2, got their own strong outings from John Lackey and Jon Lester, and Shane Victorino slammed the door in Game 6.
ALDS
Tampa Bay had been a thorn in Boston’s side for a few years, but the Red Sox took care of their home field in dominating fashion, then eked out a victory in Game 4 to avoid a winner-take-all finale.
When it was over, left fielder Jonny Gomes donned his party gear.

Playing and managing in Boston, there’s a history that we can’t look past: The Hall of Fame players who have come through here, the championship teams that have played here before us, and the Red Sox, we feel, are very much a part of the fabric of this city, maybe more so than other places.
Along with that come the expectations, the inherent pressures, and this season’s success began with the way that general manager Ben Cherington reshaped the roster – his ability to bring in those players who would embrace all that is Boston. That understanding and buying into a team concept by every player in our uniform, and an undeniable commitment and work ethic by our coaching staff, all these things allowed us to create an environment where we
