We are a country of couch potatoes, and it’s time to do something about it. This boot camp is not some fluffy philosophy on health. It will take you through the real tried and tested things that I actually do in my own life.

We had been in our sleeping bags for two hours when the hut we were in exploded in noise from simulated grenades and smoke bombs. In between every group of six men there was a 23.3 pound M-60 machine gun the group shared responsibility for hauling on the march. Each man in the group took a turn hauling the M-60, and when one would get tired he would yell, 60! This signified it was time for someone else on the team to step-up and exchange his M16 for a turn pulling the heavy machine gun. It was dark, making it difficult to see. The surface was very uneven. People got injured on the march. Some people just quit. We ran for approximately three miles. The march was a test to separate those who really wanted
