About this ebook

Hi, I'm Steve Hutchins. I am the author of "The Personal Responsibility Amendment." I wrote the book, because my vision of America is a place where the economy is booming. A place that is based on self-sufficiency, free market, private property ownership, and citizens working their jobs, lands and businesses, all in trade for supporting themselves. In this way we can keep government small and people free.
America is a constitutionally controlled nation, so we can change our government's actions by reprogramming the source code. We can change the constitutional controls, in order to change what America does.
The success stories in America's history were about people taking charge of their own destinies. Our future success must also be.
The book discusses the U.S. Constitutional Amendment, that when ratifieded, will end government personal support payments. The book also offers a Liberal-Conservative List, comparing the stark differences between the two points of view, on 24 key issues. Plus, it has a step-by-step plan to implement the process, and includes the Amendment Text.
We need every person in America discussing this simple solution.
Our constitutional amendments have created violent debates, and even war.

    Chapter 1

    Life

Nature has one task it demands of mammals to qualify for the next round in life. The newborn must fight to draw the first breath, find the teat, battle for the milk, and go on living. Most mammal mothers will let one of the litter die if they won’t fight for what they need. God gave us instincts to help but struggle is the bitter reality of life, for all of us. From that instinctive basis of must-do existence, came the human notion of personal responsibility. In the absence of other systems, we typically default to the most natural group order, which is everyone for themselves, and this stack is mine. We are mammals, after all.

Since our beginning, humanity has often allowed so-called wise men to take charge. Over the centuries, kings, warlords, dictators, saints, despots, thieves, senates, courts, and even lunatics, have ruled over common people. In most cases, the citizens were deprived of freedom, happiness and even their lives. Vast numbers of early humans lived in slavery. Most of the others suffered deep poverty for those who got rich by oppressing them.

An estimated 11 billion people have lived on Earth. About 7 billion are alive now. Freedom, as we know it, has existed a little more than 200 years.

History was never about the little guy. However, America’s founders were about an entire nation of little guys, all getting ahead. They wanted everyone to have the same advantages. As a result, they formed a country that unleashed the power of freedom, private property and the free market economy. Without specifying it, they based the United States on personal responsibility. They crafted those principles into a founding document called the U.S. Constitution. Its purpose was to limit the power of government so a free, self-sufficient people could live and worship peaceably under the rule of law. The Constitution created economic and religious liberty for every citizen.

Because of our constitutional philosophy, America quickly rose to be the most successful and generous nation on earth. Ours became the highest standard of living anywhere. Americans did it all without support being something they looked to government to provide. They each worked for themselves and their families. That formula is the oldest and most successful basis of economics. It’s so simple that even with language barriers, it usually doesn’t require a discussion to understand, that’s how
