      Introduction

      There is hardly an area of our lives that inspires us as much as that of love, and our romantic and/or sexual relationships. Millions of people the world over are asking themselves the obvious question: When will I be lucky, and find someone with whom I can have a beautiful and exciting relationship?

      It is thus little wonder that many look to areas such as astrology in order to try to get an idea about when they might happen to meet that special someone, or at least, someone who is special enough to inspire a fleeting feeling of infatuation!

      In newspapers and magazines all over the world, you can more often than not find an astrology section that supposedly will reveal to you how fortunate – or unfortunate – you are going to be in the near future, based on your Sun Sign. Of course, any serious astrologer will tell you that this is pure nonsense: basing any astrological interpretations, including predictions, on only the Sun Sign of an individual is irresponsible, to say the least.

      Having worked in the area of astrology for well over thirty years, I can tell you right from the beginning, in the plainest of terms: any astrological predictions that use only your Sun Sign as their basis are, more likely than not, hogwash. Any hits they might have are due solely to coincidence, not to any astrological foundation. After all, it should be well-known by now that many of the people who write such columns are themselves not at all versed in astrology; they simply make up what they write as they go along. True, there are some professional astrologers who write such columns as well, and who do so to improve their income. But I’ll say it again. It is not possible to make sound astrological predictions based only on a person’s Sun Sign. Therefore, all such columns cannot, and should not, be taken seriously.

      This is not to say, however, that no predictions can be made using astrology. If you have your natal chart, you can indeed see certain tendencies of your future, that is, you can see when it is most likely that certain types of things will occur. And this includes, naturally, when it is that you are most likely to be lucky where love is concerned.

      What is a natal chart? It is simply a map of the planetary constellations at the moment of your birth. When compared with the planetary positions right now (for instance), you can get an insight into what sorts of things you might experience today. Check the planetary positions for next week, next month, or for a particular date at any time in your future, and you will see the quality of those times in your life.

      Don’t worry if this seems a bit complicated. I will explain each point in greater detail, and in a way that anyone will be able to follow the ideas effortlessly. But to sum up this introductory section, let me once again stress the two most important points presented:

      - Trying to predict the tendencies of your future using only your Sun Sign will not work. Any hits you may get will be mere coincidence.

      - Using real astrology, you can predict the tendencies of your future, or that of anyone else. In this book, you will learn how to do so, even if up to now, you have never heard of a natal chart, and have read nothing about serious astrology.

      And one more point, perhaps the most important for those who have purchased this book: using the methods you will be learning here, you will soon be able to see just when you will be most likely to find a romantic encounter, or even the love of your life. Now, if that doesn’t give you motivation to read on, I don’t know what will!

      Astrological Predictions as Likelihoods: Probabilities versus Certainties

      Although some of us would love to know, with absolute certainty, what will happen in our future, this is simply not possible.

      Consider the area of medicine. How often have you heard that drinking or smoking a lot will shorten your life span? And yes, it is true that statistically, people who drink and/or smoke a lot do have shorter lives than those who don’t. Yet we probably all know people who have drunk and smoked all their lives, and who lived to be well over eighty. In this we can see that predictions about how long you will live if you do such and such are not in any way certainties, but are rather probabilities.

      Or another example: someone tells you that if you invest your money in the stock market, it will increase over the next few decades, since this is what always seems to happen. Of course, this is also not certain. There could be a world economic crisis at any time, one that would wipe out the stock market, and also your bank account. Considering the economic policies pursued by governments in almost every country in the world, I would say that sooner or later, this is indeed probably going to happen at some time in the future. But here, too, I can only speak of what I see as probable, and not of a certainty.

      Here’s yet another example, this time from your own life. You pay into a pension fund, so that your old age will be financially secure. Yet can you be certain that you will even reach old age? Even if you do your best to live in a healthy manner, who’s to say that an accident won’t do away with you well before you hit sixty-five?

      Of course, astrology can give you an idea of how likely such a thing is in your life, but then, that isn’t the subject of this book. My point here is merely that, in the case of a pension fund, you are basically betting that you will probably reach old age, and if indeed you do, you will have a nice nest egg for your golden years. Yet reaching that age is a probability, not a certainty.

      And so it is with astrology. You can predict when certain things are most likely to occur, but not if and when they definitely will occur.

      For you see, in spite of what many people believe, our lives are not series of events that are destined to happen, despite our own wishes, desires, beliefs, and actions. A simple example will serve to clarify this thought.

      Imagine that a young woman goes to a renowned psychic, known for her exceptional ability to predict the future of her clients. She tells the woman the following:

      Next Saturday, you will be invited to a party. You will accept the invitation. At the party, you will meet a man to whom you will immediately feel attracted. He will like you, too, and you will plan to meet again. This man will turn out to be the great love of your life!

      Naturally, the young woman would accept the invitation to the party, if indeed she receives one. And perhaps she even meets the man of her dreams, just as predicted. But the question now arises: did it have to turn out that way?

      Consider now a second scenario. The young woman visits the psychic, who instead of her previous prediction, makes this one:

      Next Saturday, you will be invited to a party. You will accept the invitation. On the drive to the party, a drunk driver will run into your car head-on, and you will be killed almost immediately.

      Now, if the young woman believes in fate, in the sense that the prediction definitely will occur, then she might in fact be stupid enough to actually accept the party invitation, and find herself behind the wheel of her car on that fateful night. But my guess is that in this case, she would not accept the
