Author

Preemie Maboroshi

ABDL fanfic writer. I love anything that expands my imagination. So a lot of my stories are sci-fi based, just because of the technology. Or magic-based, just because... well... you can do anything with magic. I try to infuse art as well as kink in my stories. And politics as well as pornography. Only short stories on the Smashwords site. But I hope to change that for you all soon.

The cityscape faded into view. It was a lemon yellow morning, though it could just as easily have been a cobalt blue night. Trent floated slowly down through the space between two of the large factory buildings. He was already scanning the landscape for any signals that might pop up. If something in his field of view lit up, he’d make a quick dash to it, ready to fight off any troubles.

I’ve landed, Trent spoke as his feet touched the ground. He heard a voice in his ear like a voice on a walkie-talkie, confirming Trent’s landing. The voice clicked off in a blast of static.

Trent looked at the building to his right. The building was at first featureless and grey. Then a sign, like a neon sign, popped up into Trent’s field of view. HomeBrand Foods. One of the largest packaged foods companies in the world. Colored squares began running up the side of the building. Red, blue, and green. The squares had yellow writing on them. Trent could have slowed down the writing. But the writing was of no interest to him.

Jobs. Manufacturing jobs. The jobs Trent was here to protect. Occasionally one of the squares would light up brightly, freeze for a moment, and then disappear. A flash of light would zoom into HomeBrand’s factory. Another worker, reporting for duty. Eventually, if HomeBrand was lucky, the lights would all eventually stop flashing. All the needed positions would be filled for the day. And HomeBrand would be able to produce all the goods it needed to produce for the day.

The same thing was happening all over this town. Really, Trent thought, lifting himself up about a meter in the air and floating down the street, How could this place be thought of as a town?" There were nothing but factories here. Nobody came here to live. People only came here to work.

The streets were busy. But most of the people who floated through them were nothing more than globes of lights, flashing into the doorless buildings of the factories. It was a rarity to see people as whole bodies on the outsides of these buildings. Many of them may still have been connecting to their systems while they were making their way in to work.

Trent saw someone he was familiar with. Another protector, in a sense, but not the same kind as Trent. Trent was what was known as Perp Control. The person below, Veronica, was Damage Control. If a situation got out of hand and machinery within this town was damaged, Veronica could fix it.

Trent floated down to the street corner. Veronica looked at Trent with obvious attraction. Why not? Trent thought, a little vainly. Trent had built himself to be attractive. Tall. Muscular. Blonde hair, tan skin, and a tough attitude. He’d built himself this way for a whole lot of practical reasons, sure. But reason surely was to get the kind of look he was getting right now.

    Veronica said, Another exciting day?

Trent smirked. "At least there’s always the routine stuff. Checking for random viruses. And you – seems like things have really slowed down for you,
