About this ebook

Are you tired of diet programs that just don't work?

Have you tried one diet after another but still have nothing to show for?

Our ancestors from almost 200,000 years ago lived in harsh and brutal conditions where they needed to hunt for their meat and forage for our vegetables and greens. They did not cultivate crops or eat grain. They were the true hunter-gatherers. Because of their diet they were lean, physically strong and energetic. They had lots of work to do to stay alive and they had the physical physique to accomplish their goals.

Our ancestors, genetically related to us in every way, ate what’s called the Paleo Diet. This is a far cry from our modern diet of refined foods, sugar and trans fats, which are artificially created and didn’t even exist 200,000 years ago. Our diet happens to be the basis behind our current epidemic of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, Parkinson’s disease, infertility, depression and Alzheimer’s disease.

So what would happen if we, instead of indulging in a modern diet, ate the same diet as the “cave man” who thrived on a far different diet than ours? Some research is indicating that we would be thinner, stronger and free of physical illness.

    Introduction

So what would happen if we, instead of indulging in a modern diet, ate the same diet as the cave man who thrived on a far different diet than ours? Some research is indicating that we would be thinner, stronger and free of physical illness. The basis of this diet is the eating of lean proteins that build strong bones, strong muscles and a healthy immune function. Protein has the advantage of making you feel satisfied between meals.

The other aspect of the Paleo Diet is fruits and vegetables. Our ancestors were able to take advantage of many healthy greens, fruit from trees and berries to round out their diet. Vegetables were gotten naturally from the ground such as tubers (potatoes), radishes and carrots. They knew which fruits, vegetables and greens were healthy and safe to eat and used them along with roasted meat in order to have a well-rounded diet.

The fruits and vegetables they ate were rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other phytonutrients that have been found to reduce the risk of getting diabetes, cancer and diseases involved in neurological decline. Things like nuts, avocados, seeds, fish oils, olive oils and grass fed meats contain healthy fats that our body needs for production of cell membranes primarily.

According to quality scientific research, diets that contain plenty of omega-3 fatty acids and monounsaturated fats actually decrease the degree of obesity in our society and reduce the incidence of diseases like diabetes, heart disease, cancer and brain diseases that cause a reduction in cognitive function.

And yet, saturated fat has been considered taboo in our diet, according to the media and health organizations. Why do these organizations believe that saturated fat is so bad for us? Why is it recommended that our diet be so low in saturated fat? How much saturated fat should we really be eating? This is difficult to answer. What we do know is that our ancestors ate almost exclusively saturated fat and yet had a low risk of the diseases we associate with saturated fat.

Our ancestors at their fats from grass fed or wild meat, fish and birds, while we eat fatty meats fed on feed, which fattens them up. Wild meat is extremely lean and has low levels of saturated
