Who ever heard of all-day recess or drawing pictures instead of doing math? Certainly no one at Rachel Steerman Elementary. But that's exactly what happens one Monday morning, prompting five fourth-graders to investigate the strange behavior of their teacher, Mrs. Winfred, and all the other adults at the school.
Soon they wish they'd left well enough alone as they discover the cause of the madness -- living in the depths of the earth under their teacher's desk.
Caught in an impossible adventure, the five students combine everything they've learned and the hidden strengths in each of them to fight the forces that have turned their world upside-down. Through it all they discover that learning is more important than recess, accepting others for who they are creates new friendships, and that everyone has something they're good at.
Under My Teacher's Desk is a great story for reading in the classroom, or by individuals just for fun.
