      Sara rang the doorbell of her friend, Annie’s house. Annie and Rob were hosting a barbecue to kick off the summer.

      Hi, Sara! Annie greeted her, opening the door. Come on in. Annie led the way through the house, pointing out the bathroom and drinks in the kitchen. Immediately they headed to the backyard, where all the other guests were mingling. Looking around, Sara didn’t see anyone else she knew besides her friend, Annie, and her new husband, Rob.

      Hey, someone approached Sara on her left. I’m Josh. I’m Rob’s cousin.

      Oh, hi, Sara smiled. I’m Sara, I’m friends with Annie. The two made small talk for fifteen minutes before Josh got to his point.

      Hey, wanna get in the hot tub? It’s just sitting there, might as well use it, he said, a charming smile on his face.

      Sara couldn’t resist his twinkling blue eyes and sparkling smile. Plus, the three beers she’d had didn’t help. Sure! she said. They went inside to change into their swimming suits. When Sara walked back out to the hot tub, Josh was already sitting in it, along with another couple. She dropped the towel she had wrapped around her, to reveal her yellow bikini and tight, athletic frame. Josh’s staring made her slightly uncomfortable, so she quickly climbed into the hot tub. Ahh, this feels nice, she said, sinking into the steamy water.

      Josh continued to stare. It does, doesn’t it? he said with a wry smile. He slid closer to her. You look amazing, by the way, he whispered.

      Thanks, Sara said, self-consciously. She glanced at the other couple, who was sitting side-by-side across from her and Josh. So how do you guys know Annie and Rob? she asked them.

      I’m Annie’s cousin, Rebecca, the girl said, and this is my husband, Brent.

      Sara smiled. Nice to meet you.

      You too, Rebecca said.

      Sara felt something touch her knee. She looked at Josh, but he was making conversation with Rebecca and Brent. Sara thought she saw the corner of his mouth twitch upward in an ever-so-slight smile. His hand was now firmly planted on Sara’s knee. As Josh asked the other couple questions about themselves, he slid his hand further up Sara’s thigh. Sara felt butterflies in her stomach. She’d been single now for seven months. She craved physical affection.

      So, Sara, where are you from? Rebecca asked. Sara had to gather herself. Josh’s hand was now on her upper thigh, getting closer to her crotch.
