    A Difficult Decision

    Mama, where are we going now? asked Abhilash as his mother packed his bag.  He thought his mother was taking him for a vacation to some relative’s house.

    I’ll tell you, son. He heard a feeble voice at the door. Jessy took her sari pallu and wiped her tears before facing her son.  She didn’t know how to tell him where she was taking him.  She was sure that if he knew the truth Abhilash wouldn’t agree to accompany her.

    Why are you crying mama? Are you not well?  Abhilash was anxious about his mother.  He had no one in this world other than his mother to call his own.

    No, son. I’m not crying.

    I know you’re crying.  Haven’t you told me not to tell lies?

    Jessy managed to present a forced smile on her face.  See son. I’m not crying. She hugged him and said, Abhi, pray to God before we leave the house.

    She locked the door and came out holding Abhi’s hand.

    Mama, where are we going now? Please tell me. He looked anxiously at his mother and walked with her, without knowing the destination. Mama must be taking me to the city to
