Introduction
Every summer the big name music festivals get more and more TV coverage, but why watch from the settee at home when you can actually be there and be part of it. One in ten adults now go to festivals regularly and if that doesn’t include you, then what have you been doing? It’s not just about the music... It’s the people, the partying, unexpected performances by favourite artists, fantastic food, unbelievable sights and well, the list could just go on and on. What you see and hear on TV is nothing compared to what you'll experience when you’re there. So why leave it any longer? With over 150 music festivals in the UK alone this year, there’ll be something for you and it’s guaranteed to be a weekend you’ll be talking about for a long time, especially if it’s your first time. Okay, we know the whole prospect can be a little daunting if you haven’t been to a festival before and you’re bound to have a lot of questions, but you’ll find the answers to them all here. This guide has been put together purely for the purpose of making sure you go off fully prepared and by the time you’ve read it, all you’ll have to think about is having a good time.
The real essence of a music festival is hard to define. Of course there’ll be big name acts that you probably won’t want to miss, as well as the up and coming performers, but most people don’t go just for the music. It’s an opportunity to hang out with friends for the weekend, as well as a chance to make new ones. Take a short walk and there’ll always be something new to see or do – performance arts such as dance, drama, circus and poetry, or stalls selling animal masks, luminous moustaches and wood smoked
